Gerald Albright & Norman Brown Make #1 a Collaborative Effort and Fourplay Debuts at #5
September 22, 2012 – It only took Gerald Albright and Norman Brown six weeks to reach #1 on the Smooth Jazz Now Top 50 Countdown. “Our audience couldn’t make up their minds on which tracks to love more,” says Smooth Jazz Now Program Director John Beaudin. “This ‘24/7’ album is the top album on our station right now with six tracks on our playlists,” adds Beaudin.
There was another pleasant surprise with Fourplay’s new single ‘Sonny Moon’ debuting at #5 on the chart. It’s the highest debut this year on the countdown. The super groups new albums, another featuring guitarist Chuck Loeb, is called ‘Esprit de Four.’
Also on the chart, Elan Trotman gained seventeen slots to #23 with ‘Master Blaster’ and Greg Adams moved up eight points to #14 with ‘Carry On.’
The Smooth Jazz Now TOP Chart is based only on audience requests and inquiries. It is a non-payola chart. Pay-for-play is prohibited on the station. – by Beth Knudsen
