Joyce Cooling's Warm Summer Night

July 30, 2007 - On a beautiful summer evening in MD, it was Joyce Cooling's first time performing at the Rams Head Tavern and my first time seeing her perform live. Believe me, it won't be my last. This girl rocks the guitar lots of class and style and the bluesy and down home feel to her style keeps fans coming back for more.

Cooling treated her fans to some tunes that had never been performed live; many of which were from her latest CD "Revolving Door." Among those were "Mildred's Attraction," the hip "Little Sister," and my personal favorite of the evening "I'll Always Love You" which was her Ode to the audience. She also gave us fan favorites such as "Callie" and "South Of Market" which has the audience rocking.
The atmosphere at Rams Head is very cozy and laid back which matches Joyce's playing style very well. You can relax with a drink or get a light bite to eat while enjoying the show. I felt more like I was in my living room then in a Jazz Club.

Joining Joyce onstage was drummer Billy Johnson, bass man Victor Little and Jay Wagner on keyboards who has partnered with her as a keyboardist and writer for 17 years. I only wish there had been more stage time for more fan favorites like "Camelback," but like I said this will not be my last Joyce Cooling show I definitely have something to look forward to. By the way, if you haven't done so already, make sure you pick up a copy of Joyce's latest release "Revolving Door." Not only will you have great music to relax to but you will be helping a great cause as part of the proceeds from "Revolving Door" CD sales will be donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). For more information on Joyce and her affiliation with NAMI, go to www.joycecooling.com and if Joyce is in your area, go check her performance out, you won't be sorry.
