Al
Jarreau, the seven time Grammy award winner and the only vocalist
to have ever won in three separate categories - jazz, pop and R&B
- is well known for his unmistakably sultry voice, his scat singing
and his ability to imitate conventional guitar, bass and percussion
instruments. This sets the tone for making his performances on this
tour with George Benson an
experience of a lifetime.
On the other hand, George Benson,
one of music's most engaging and multi-talented stars, and a powerhouse
in his own right, brought down the house in Tucson during a stop
on their Givin' It Up tour in front of 5,000 adoring fans. He performed
hit after hit after hit, clearly demonstrating why he considers
himself "an entertainer first." He can sing, play and
dance, all with an unbelievable stamina and an incomparable style.
The two belted out classic favorites of Seals & Crofts' "Summer
Breeze" and Hall & Oates' "Every Time You Go Away."
Givin' it up also includes fresh new jazz vocal versions of the
Miles Davis classics "Four"
and "Long come Tutu." This much-anticipated 13 track recording
features each of the stars on a new arrangment of one of the other's
biggest hits - Jarreau adding lyrics to and singing Benson's signature
instrumental smash "Breezin," while the legendary jazz
guitarrist delivers a lovely instrumental version of the singer's
eternally seductive "Morning."
These two living legends have been delighting and captivating audiences
for four decades
and will continue to do so. If you haven't
seen them on tour, don't walk
run to the nearest concert venue.
They don't make'm like this anymore.
