George
Benson's "Greatest Hits of All,"
Sounds redundant, huh? Has this multiple Grammy
winner done anything that hasn't been a hit?
Since the release of "Breezin" in
1976, the incredibly versatile talents of
George Benson have been as reliable as an
atomic clock! Guitar player and vocalist,
this musician has a gift that has stood, and
will continue to stand the test of time. Musicians
come and go, but Benson continues to be a
player in the AC, pop, R & B Jazz, world.
His liner notes read like a Billboard talent
pool. Lee
Ritenour, Earl Klugh, Quincy Jones, Jeff
Porcaro, Jay
Graydon, Patti Austin, Aretha Franklin
(to name but a few) does it get any better
than this? I suspect that perhaps the greatest
challenge in compiling this collection would
be simply selecting the cuts. The line up
is worthy of ownership. It is cleverly crafted
to highlight the versatility of this great
musician, from the haunting "This Masquerade",
to the seductive "Love X Love",
where Benson's vocals are as smooth and sweet
as a fine liqueur. The upbeat and catchy "Never
Give Up on a Good Thing" and "Lady
Love Me" feature Benson at his R &
B best. "Love All The Hurt Away"
features Benson in a duet with Aretha Franklin,
the result of this marriage is as smooth and
inviting as satin sheets, which better not
be too far away if you listen to this sultry
piece with a special companion. Balladeer,
guitarist, scat singer, soul man, record producer .
