It has been 5 years since the last studio effort from Rob Deboer
and Tony Grace known as four80east. I have to be honest I was only
partially pleased with the last effort and on hearing about this
new release coming from the band my hopes were a bit apprehensive.
After a single, listen I was put to rest as the duo from Toronto,
Canada has once again surpassed my expectation with a wonderful
release. "En Route" holds your attention with a hypnotic
groove that combines futuristic Jazz sounds and infectious groove
throughout. The standout track is without a doubt "Noodle Soup"
a track you will repeat, repeat and repeat in your player. It was
also recently nominated for "Best Original Composition at the
Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards.
You will also find the vibe on "The Drop" as wonderfully
cinematic in its presentation and all the while wrapped in a wonderful
adventurous groove. "Double Down" is a track made for
headphones, as is the whole CD. Great production with some serious
bass grooves all with intelligent electronic flourishes makes for
a tasty listening treat for you. - by Paul
