He then embarked on a musical career and caught famous producer Quincy Jones’ attention with his band “Foreplay”. He then formed another R&B band “One Wish” and their song “Tell Me Why”made its way to the Smooth Jazz top hundred charts. For his next project, the guitarist met the saxophonist Gentry Shelby and formed the “Shelby Brown Band”. They reached the DMX Smooth Jazz music chart top position with their track “Come Into My Heart”. These various musical experiences led Brown to sign on Delaf Records and produce his latest project “No Time To Waste”. The album was first released in October 2006 on Delaf Records. It will get a new life, as this excellent piece of work has been re-released in 2008 on Nu Groove Records. The label has already produced the latest albums of famous smooth jazz artists such as Michael Lington, Gail Johnson, Bob Baldwin, Jay Soto, Dave Sereny among others. |

The album starts with the kinetic and funky “Blue Street”, where Dee Brown displays his fine guitar skills communicating with expressive sax player Dezie McCullers Jr. After such a groovy opening, you will rest with the joyful “No Time to Waste” starting with a sophisticated and bright introduction remembering the likes of Earth Wind and Fire. “Confesssions” again highlights Brown and McCullers Jr’s tremendous musicianship in an energetic track that will move up your feet. You will then be cruising on “Sunday Jazz”, with Audra Bryant’s soulful voice and will cool down with friends and enjoying your stress free Sunday. Then, on the next track, you will be again surrounded by friends and invited to “Dee Brown’s Place” and impressed by the accuracy of Mc Cullers Jr (on saxophone), guitarist Gerald Mitchell (who co-produced the album with Brown) and Dave Henderson (on keyboards). “Before I Begin” is again a swinging encounter between Mc Cullers Jr, Brown, nicely surrounded with Reginald B. Williams and Asha Williams’background vocals. “Reunited” has again this sax-guitar dialogue touch. “El Spanyo” will again leave breathless with Brown’s funky guitar chops blent with a sunny Spanish touch. “Wings of Love” will make you fly up in the air with Gerald Brown lead vocal and the same cast of bright musicians. “Call Me Up” is a bouncy track that has again a groovy hook. The album closes with the quality duo Brown-Mc Cullers Jr, that displays “Beautiful Melodic” and tight arrangements for the last track. |
