Smooth Jazz Network Shakes up the format
December 8, 2006 - If you like Smooth Jazz radio you're bound to hear more from Dave Koz in the New Year. Broadcast Architecture's Smooth Jazz Network may replace many well-known announcers in the format with personalities like Koz and Ramsey Lewis. So far Cliff Smith of KYOT/Phoenix, Ray White and Timothy Alexander White of KKSF/San Francisco have lost their jobs. Smith will be replaced by former afternoon drive host Tony Evans whose position is now being filled by Koz. In San Francisco long-time afternoon host Koz will also replace Ray White and night host Timothy Alexander White loses his job for Annie Ashe of the Smooth Jazz Network. Koz has also been announced to host the afternoons at WNUA Chicago. Former afternoon drive host Danae Alexander will be moved back to evenings. Expect more announcements soon.

U.S. Smooth Jazz Radio Arbitron Ratings Results:
May 19, 2005 - Arbitron's Winter 2005 radio ratings have been released, and it features several Smooth Jazz stations with happy returns. Stations on the up: Detroit's "V 98.7" (WVMV) moved up to 5th place ages 12 and older. San Diego's KIFM 98.1 vaulted to 3rd. Both Denver's "Smooth Jazz 104.3" (KJCD) and Miami's "Love 94" (WLVE) climbed over 1 full share and placed 8th and 7th respectively, while Tampa's WSJT 94.1 and Minneapolis' KJZI 100.3 increased exactly 1 full share to 6th and 11th respectively. Sacramento's KSSJ 94.7 did even better, raising nearly 1 and a half shares all the way to 2nd overall. Seattle's KWJZ 98.9 also had a stellar season, jumping to 3rd. Springfield, MA's locally-owned "106.3 Smooth FM" (WEIB) had an impressive showing itself, jumping over a full share to notch 16th. Not quite enjoying the same success was New York's "CD 101.9 New York Chill" (WQCD), which struggled in its first full ratings period since implementing Chill music into its playlist, dropping to a tie for 16th. Phoenix's KYOT 95.5 dipped to 12th, its lowest 12 and older ratings showing in quite some time. - by Nick Langan
