Corinne Bailey Rae Aiming to Ignore Opinions of Others
January 28, 2010 - It's a natural step for any artist to eventually walk away from ones reputation. After all our reputation is someone else's job, not ours, and, as we all know, reputation sometimes has nothing to do with the truth. Corinne Bailey Rae thinks it's about time that she stopped worrying about the opinions of others. "It's almost like it endangers the expression," says the singer. "But I think it was really good to be following my own instincts on this record. I just want to do it all myself.”

"I really want to be detached from that kind of feedback," Bailey Rae told CanWest News. "We have that audio term feedback. It means the microphone goes wrong because it can hear what the speaker's doing, and you get this really high pitched sound. I think to become conscious of how people interpret your performance is a really wrong thing to do."

Her new album "The Sea" comes four years after her self titled debut and much has happed since then including the death of her husband Jason Rae to drugs. The singer kept a low profile during her mourning which eventually lead to writing and recording the new project. "It's a good reflection of where I am personally," she says. "I don't know if the hopefulness wins out or the heaviness wins out." More

Top Jazz Musicians Show David Sanborn Nothing But Love
January 27, 2010 – It’s a love-fest at the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards. The tributes are pouring in for David Sanborn, this year’s recipient of the George Benson Lifetime Achievement Award. Benson, who won the first honor and has since had the award named after him, was the first to tip his hat to Sanborn, “We both have tremendous identities in the world of Smooth Jazz,” says Benson. “It would be hard to find anyone amongst serious music listeners who does not recognize the name David Sanborn and the great music he plays.  So, I am not surprised that he is being honored as this year's recipient of the George Benson Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Cameron Smith mid-day at Smooth Jazz Now.com says, “David has been a friend and inspiration to me…the fact that he survived  polio as a young boy by spending time in an iron lung and picked up the sax to help build back his strength in his lungs is a just part of his story. His artistic genius, his sense of humor and humility make him a remarkable human being…his lifetime is full of achievement on so many levels.”

Smooth Jazz superstar Boney James added, “David's music was a tremendous influence on my playing and he's always been a great inspiration in my pursuit of a career as a saxophonist. I'm grateful to know him." More

Boney James Searches the Net for New Singers
January 25, 2010 – Grammy nominated sax man Boney James has a new mission. Looking forward to his next album James is looking for a few good singers and he plans on using the web to find some new hot talent.

He worked with singer Quinn on his hit album ‘Send One Your Love’ and that created a hunger to possible explore more vocal journeys. “I’m always just trying to match a singer with the song,” Says James, “Since I’m still writing it’s hard to say, but so much is just inspiration. I’ll know it when I hear it.”

Let’s remember James has never had an album that flopped so whatever direction his new project takes it’s bound to get tons of attention. ‘Send One Your Love’ was released in Feb, 2009 and is still charting, in fact the album could win a Grammy for “Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance on Sunday’s ceremony.
