10 Things You Might Not Know About Shannon Edwards – Host of Night-Lite on Smooth Jazz Now
August 1, 2010 – Shannon Edwards was raised in the Okanagan, in the interior of British Columbia, Canada. Broadcasting was certainly never on her mind as she searched for a career, “It’s probably the last thing I expected to do,” says Edwards. “I’m a huge Pop music fan but New-Age music became a big part of my life as spirituality became more important and it seems fitting for me to host Night-Lite on Smooth Jazz Now since I listen to that music more.” She can be heard every weeknight from 7PM to 6AM (eastern).
Edwards, who also hosts a slower version of Night-Lite on our sister-station www.whatsinvisible.com, loves romantic movies. “My favorite film of all time is ‘Love Actually,’ says Edwards. “I’m a sucker for a happy ending and that one has many.” Read more facts about Shannon Edwards right here.
- Shannon once owned her own store named ‘Walkabout Clothing and Gifts.’ “We imported such interesting things from all over the world, it was an exciting time in my life.”
- Shannon is married to Smooth Jazz Now Program Director, John Beaudin.
- Shannon and John have two children Chase, 6, and Danica, 12. “Our daughter is autistic,” says Edwards, “We found out when she was 3 and having a special needs daughter has been such a gift to John and I. Our initial reaction when she was officially diagnosed was total despair but she has taught us so much about what’s truly important in life. Danica has been my biggest teacher.”

- Shannon is very spiritual. “I meditate everyday and try to read as much as possible. It has set me free. I love it.”
- Shannon studied dance for many years. “I started with Jazz and Ballet and then moved into tap dancing.
- Shannon is afraid of skunks.
- Shannon loves to wear red.
- Shannon was in a major skiing accident when she was 11. “I was at Apex Alpine and this boy, who I think was 15 or so, crashed into me and his ski poles literally went into my face. I was rushed to the hospital, unconscious for quite some time and after waking up was sent immediately into surgery for reconstruction of my teeth and stitches on my face, but luckily the doctor on call was also a plastic surgeon. It was one of the most traumatic times ever for me. But, like the cliché goes, it gave me amazing strength.”
