Michael
Buble wins Three Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards
April 7, 2006 - Crooner Michael Buble picked
up three Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards tonight at
the second annual ceremony. Buble who won 4 Juno
Awards last week won in every category he was
nominated including "Male Vocalist"
and "Album of the Year" for "It's
Time" and "Socan Best Original Composition"
for his huge hit "Home." Jesse Cook
picked up the "Guitarist of the Year"
award and Carol Welsman was top "Keyboardist."
Congratulations to Molly Johnson winner of the
"Female Vocalist of the Year" and Clayton/Scott
Group winner of the "Group of the Year"
for the second year in a row. For the first time
there was a tie, "Wind Instrumentalist"
went to both Alexander Zonjic who hosted the ceremony
and Warren Hill. Superstar Chris Botti was named
"International Artist of the Year" and
veteran Smooth Jazz broadcaster Bob Farrow of
the Wave 94.7, co-chair of the awards won "Broadcaster
of the Year." The awards were held at the
Hammerson Hall at The Living Arts Centre, Mississauga
Ontario. Bob James was honored with the "George
Benson Lifetime Achievement Award" the legendary
keyboardist performed at the ceremony. - Shannon
