"The thing about Spyro Gyra is that they make you feel good. I remember playing "Morning Dance" and "The Shaker Song" as 45's. In fact I wore out the first copies. They were great in the 70's and they're just simply awesome now. Having them as one of the heritage bands in this
format is one of the perks. You can always count on them to deliver innovative, top notch tracks that fit perfectly. I'm looking forward to seeing them in April." - Bob Farrow - Host-The Smooth Jazz Breakfast, Wave 94.7fm, Hamilton-Toronto
"In the last 30 years Smooth Jazz has changed more than Michael Jackson's headshots. Most of twists and turns have truly sucked canal water. Spyro Gyra however has kept it innovative. 'Wrapped in a Dream' is yet another win for the band - just another reminder of what these guys are capable of." - John Beaudin - Co-Chair/ Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards/Program Director /california103, Calgary, Alberta "I can remember the first time I heard Spyro Gyra, it was back in the late 70s around the time Morning Dance was released - okay so I'll admit I didn't catch on to the band until their sophomore effort. Nonetheless, the exhilaration of that moment has stayed with me over the years and it's frequently been duplicated with many of their subsequent efforts. To Jay Beckenstein and the other musicians who have recorded under the Spyro Gyra banner, my sincere congratulations on achieving the milestone of 30 years as a band and for your well-deserved recognition as recipients of the George Benson Lifetime Achievement Award!" - Ted Hasiuk for Café Jazz
"I have fond memories of Spyro Gyra. My favourite is 1993's Dreams Beyond Control that featured the fab horn section of Tower Of Power and the atmospheric song Waltz For Isabel. You have to be doing something right to be playing and recording for over 30 years. Jay Beckenstein had a vision during those late night jazz jams back in the 70's in Buffalo. Original keyboardist Jeremy Wall once described their music as a "gutbucket of rhythmic tradition. We did simple music and esoteric stuff. It all came together, this oddball mix, until we found a middle ground, our own groove". We've been groovin' ever since. Congratulations guys on your Benson Lifetime Achievement Award!" - Gary James - Assistant Program Director/Announcer "Smooth Ride Home" Wave Hamilton/Toronto   "Growing up 'across the river' from Buffalo, NY will always hold a special memory for me. It provided an opportunity to experience friendship and culture not only of another nation, but of a very unique city. Buffalo has become legendary for many things, including blizzards, Super Bowl losses, deliciously greasy food, and those fires on the east side that led off Channel 7 news for years! Also setting the city ablaze was an enthusiasm for great music. R and B and Jazz emminated from smokey clubs around all corners of the city, vibrating off the waters of Lake Erie to the world. It is no wonder it is the city that gave birth to Spyro Grya! Their smooth uplifting sound and positive rhythmic groove is timeless, and a true reflection of the place known as the 'city of good neighbors'! It is no suprise that Spyro Gyra's legendary sound has captured the hearts of millions for over 3 decades! Congrats to Tom, Jay, Julio, and Scott (and of course, all the founding members!) on a very deserving Lifetime Achievement Award!"
