Michael Buble Wins Two Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards
March 7, 2008 – Pop/crooner Michael Buble topped the Canadian Smooth Jazz awards tonight winning two prizes – ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ and ‘Best Original Composition,’ for “Everything,” co-written by Alan Chan and Amy Foster-Gillies. It’s the fourth and fifth overall awards for Buble. The Ceremony hosted at Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, Ontario featured performances by Smooth Jazz superstar Peter White, winner of ‘International Instrumentalist’ award and newcomers Allistair Elliott and Kristian Alexandrov who took home ‘Wind Instrumentalist’ and “Keyboardist’ awards. Jazz great Diana Krall was named ‘Female Vocalist,’ for a second time, it’s also her fourth overall award since the shows inception in 2005. Randy Crawford was the winner of ‘International Vocalist.’ Jesse Cook picked up ‘Guitarist of the Year’ for a second time. more

Slim Man, vocalist/bass man extraordinaire will bring
his brand of Jazz and Pop to the ceremony. Slim Man got
the music bug at 5 when his dad took him to see Louis
Armstrong and Danny Kaye in 'The Five Pennies.' It was
a life changing moment and Slim Man's enthusiasm fuelled

Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards
have just announced today that Janita will also
be on the bill. The singer's career started when she was
only 13 in her native Finland. At only 15 she was named
"Most sensual Woman in Finland" and she had
two Finnish Grammies by 17. Her latest album "Seasons
of Life" got her a nomination as "International
Vocalist of the Year" at the awards show this year.

The Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, the only large
scale awards show on the planet for the genre kicks
off today with voting in 11 categories. Alfie Zappacosta
leads the pack with three nominations, Male Vocalist,
Best Original Composition for “Dreams Will Come True”
and his “Bonafide” is up for Album of the Year.

year's roster is led by Edmonton singer/songwriter, Alfie
Zappacosta, with 3 nominations. They are "Male
Vocalist," "Best Original Composition"
for 'Dreams will Come True', off his latest CD, 'Bonafide'
which received a nod for "Best Album." Nine
