"Growing up 'across the river' from Buffalo, NY will always hold a special memory for me. It provided an opportunity to experience friendship and culture not only of another nation, but of a very unique city. Buffalo has become legendary for many things, including blizzards, Super Bowl losses, deliciously greasy food, and those fires on the east side that led off Channel 7 news for years! Also setting the city ablaze was an enthusiasm for great music. R and B and Jazz emminated from smokey clubs around all corners of the city, vibrating off the waters of Lake Erie to the world. It is no wonder it is the city that gave birth to Spyro Grya! Their smooth uplifting sound and positive rhythmic groove is timeless, and a true reflection of the place known as the 'city of good neighbors'! It is no suprise that Spyro Gyra's legendary sound has captured the hearts of millions for over 3 decades! Congrats to Tom, Jay, Julio, and Scott (and of course, all the founding members!) on a very deserving Lifetime Achievement Award!"
