William
Joseph throws Rock in the David Foster Sound April
17, 2007 - Classically trained William
Joseph has been surrounded by Chopin and
Bach most of his life but he still likes to
rock, "I'd be doing this nice classical
performance locally and I would slip in this
nice little ballad by this band called Matellica"
says the 25 year old, "people would say
'Oh that's so beautiful' and I'd tell them it's
by Metallica you may have heard of them."
Joseph mixes Classical and classic rock on his
debut album "Within." which was produced
by David Foster. The native of Phoenix, Arizona
covers "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas
on the album and Led Zeppelin's famous
anthem
"Kashmir." Smooth Jazz Now asked Joseph
if he was anxious recording such a rock classic?
"Yes I was a little nervous and I knew
it was a huge song to take on but during the
live shows people love it and they identify
with it and it has so much energy. It's been
amazing to perform. It's cool especially in
an arena." The pianist who's been compared
to Yanni and is currently touring with Pop-Opera
supergroup Il Divo say's he plans to return
in the studio with David Foster again to record
his next album in the next few months. - by
