The multifaceted artist starring in the comedy-drama hit "Ugly Betty" attended Syracuse's University Drama Department and studied musical theatre. She interrupted her studies, as she won the 1983 Miss America title, becoming the first female black artist to receive the prestigious award. However, she had to give her title back in 1984, for posing nude in Penthouse magazine.
This setback left the artist stronger, as she then became a highly successful all-around entertainer. Over her career she has sold more than 4 millions albums and starred in various TV comedy-drama hits and movies. - By Akbar Nour

Albright, will all contribute to this holiday
seasons "A Charlie Brown Christmas Tribute".
The album is due October 4th from Peak
Records.
Anita Baker will also release a holiday album with Blue Note.
"Christmas Fantasy" hits stores October
4th, and will feature appearances by Joe
Sample, Larry
Carlton, Nathan
East, Ricky Lawson, and all four members of The Yellowjackets.
Barry Eastman, who co-produces here, also wrote
three original tunes for the outing.
Diana Krall will deliver her first Christmas album in 2005.
The outing, "Christmas Songs" will be
released on Verve November 1st.
Dave Koz and friends, David Benoit, Patti Austin,
and Jonathan
Butler will be hitting the road on "A Smooth

Williams to Sing for Tsunami Victims

31, 2005 - Vanessa
Williams is a busy girl. Her new album "Everlasting
Love" is set for release tomorrow with a
promotional tour to follow but the singer has
still found the time to help out in the Tsunami
effort. Williams will appear in concert Feb. 11
at New York's Carnegie Hall to raise funds for
survivors of the recent tsunami tragedy. Proceeds
from the evening will go to AmeriCares. The new
album "Everlasting Love" features the
singer redoing her favorite love songs from the
1970s including the title song, "Never Can
Say Goodbye" and "With You I'm Born
Again.
