However, her launch concert date (October 1 in Kansas City) was sold out virtually after two minutes. To keep up with fans, Tina Turner will perform one more night in various locations (San Jose, CA, Newark, NJ; Uniondate, NJ; Los Angeles Area.)  So now the updated North American tour includes 28 shows (USA and Canada from October 1 (Kansas City) to December 12 (Toronto).

The concert is expected to feature a major production to compliment hits spanning Turner's four-decade career. Turner's most recent studio album, "Twenty Four Seven," was released in 1999. Last fall, the eight-time Grammy winner released "Celebrate: The Best of Tina Turner," a 95-minute DVD taken from a 1999 concert that celebrated her 60th birthday. The soul diva is one of the world’s most popular and biggest-selling music artists of all time (more than 170 million records sold during her career.)  Her tour in 2000 was said to be her last, and grossed $110 million. At the time, it was the top-selling tour by a female artist, although this record has since been beaten by Madonna and Cher. For more information: www.tinaturnerlive.com - By Akbar Nour

Tina Turner Kicks Beyonce’s Butt Out of Rock ‘n Roll
May 23, 2008 – Tina Turner seem to like Beyonce but she seems to draw the line when folks start comparing the two singers,"Beyonce was one of the ones that were sitting in front of her little television, her little self looking at the big screen when I was Tina in the 'Ike and Tina Turner days' and she took from all the stars at the time, say Turner adding, "Diana Ross influenced her, I influenced her. What I like about her is that she knows what she's doing; she really did her homework and decided to stay elegant. `` The 68 year old legend says Beyonce will never match her raw talent, "She's not rock 'n' roll - she's totally elegant. Unless your rock 'n' roll from the heart you can't mimic that. The stance, the movements, it has to come from the inside."

One of the reasons Turner decided to go back on the road was the enormous response to her duet with Beyonce at 50th Annual Grammy Awards this February. – by John Beaudin
