Steve
Oliver Helps Develop New Synthesized Guitar March
14, 2007 If you have ever experienced Steve
Oliver in concert you know that this young guitarist
knows how to bend the rules quite simply
put he can make one guitar sound like a guitar convoy.
Oliver is taking it a step further by working with
the Carvin Corporation on a new high concept guitar.
Its called the Nylon Synth Access guitar or
NS1. It's a guitar with the power of a MIDI synthesizer.
You can be one of the first to get this axe at www.carvin.com/mediaplayer/NS1.php

Oliver Ads Touches Of Spyro Gyra & Fourplay
on New Album
(L&R)
Oliver and Schuman
May
13, 2004 - Steve
Oliver has a working title of '3-D' for
his next album to be released in August on Koch
Records. The guitarist is working at his own
home studio in Los Angeles and he's working
with Tom Schuman of Spyro
Gyra at his studio in Las Vegas. Oliver
has added a taste of another supergroup, Fourplay
with special guest drummer Harvey Mason. Saxophonist
Eric Marienthal
is also on the project. As for the sound of
his third album Oliver says it will be in the
similar vein to his last hit CD 'Positive Energy'
which featured the number one Smooth Jazz song
of the year for 2003 in Canada, 'High Noon.'
So expect a few vocals tracks, a few vocalize
tunes and of course the instrumentals. Oliver
promises a full tour to follow the release.

Oliver Loved his Babysitter for Different
Reasons August
28, 2003 - We hear many stories of kids
having crush's on their babysitter but at
a young age guitarist Steve Oliver appreciated
his sitter for her musical tastes. First,
she introduced him to one of his favorite
albums of all time, The Beatles "White
Album." My babysitter had it and I
just couldn't get enough. Oliver says he
still listens to the Beatles classic today,
"Oh yeah, it's so organic and so experimental
and it has a little bit of everything."
The music education didn't stop there his
sitter had broader musical tastes he says,
"She also had some Santana stuff that
was fantastic. I was listening to the "Abraxas"
album as a kid and fell in love with it."
Oliver is currently Smooth Jazz Now's "Artist
of the Month." He is charting with
"High Noon" in Canada and "Positive
Energy" in the U.S. Read

Oliver Invites a Younger Demo to Smooth Jazz August
14, 2003 - Guitarist Steve Oliver notices all age
groups at his live shows but he's especially interested
in the younger demographic. "I'm seeing that
they're interested" says Oliver. As the Smooth
Jazz format looks at attracting younger fans it's
hard to argue that Oliver's catchy hook laden grooves
is one of the answers. "I definitely see that
the kids would love it if it's presented to them."
Oliver told Smooth Jazz Now that it may be as simple
as tweaking the marketing, "I think if it's
packaged right more fifteen year olds would love
this music." Oliver adds he's a fine example,
"I was listening to all that stuff at the age
of ten and loving it. The Lee
(Ritenour) stuff and I saw Pat
Metheny in High School and all my friends loved
him." Steve Oliver is Smooth Jazz Now's 'Artist
of the Month.' Read

Oliver's Early Debut In Grade Four August
8, 2003 - Everyone has memories of that first gig
on stage. Usually those memories bring back thoughts
of shaky knees and butterflies. Guitarist Steve
Oliver says he can't remember a time where he wasn't
comfortable on stage and that included his first
concert. "In fourth grade I wrote this song
on guitar," says Oliver laughing. "I sang
it in front of my fourth grade class so that was
the first time I performed an original piece of
music." It was an early start and it set the
pace for a successful career, "I've never really
done anything else. Music's always been there, so
yeah its home." Oliver is Smooth Jazz Now's
"Artist of the Month." Read
