Peter White drags out the Christmas Tree
June 5, 2008 – Peter White might not be the most graceful performer or the best looking, actually he’s quite unassuming but his talent and spirit have been the glue that word of mouth superstars are made out of. It’s hard to see Peter White in concert only once, he’s an infectious fellow and now he’s thinking ahead to Christmas. |

White Shares His Christmas Spirit With Mindi Abair
& Rick Braun
October
22, 2004 - Peter
White will be up to his usual holiday merrymaking
this November and December and he's keeping pretty
good company again. The guitarist will be rejoined
by Saxophonist Mindi
Abair and Rick
Braun is also in the fold. The Peter White
Christmas tour will stop in 18 U.S. cities kicking
off in San Diego, California on November 26th.
All three artists have previously released holiday
CDs, White says "My earliest memories of
Christmas were probably not much different from
many other people: snowflakes, tinsel, Santa Claus,
reindeer and the opening of presents surrounded
by family. As a child, my father taught me to
play Christmas music on my first instrument, the
recorder, and my love for holiday music has endured
throughout the years. I hope this tour will be
an opportunity for fans to enjoy their favorite
Christmas songs in a family setting. Perhaps I'll
even bring my recorder." Mindi Abair will
be our "Artist Of The Month" for December.

White Knows the Value of a Song
June
16, 2004 - Peter White says he doesn't mind
if people forget his name as long as they remember
his songs. The Smooth Jazz guitarist told Smooth
Jazz Now that he knows his place in the pecking
order and the songs come first, "Absolutely
because in the end that's all people are going
to remember" says White. "There are
very few artists that are going to be remembered
more than their songs. People usually remember
the songs and then they'll say, "Who did
that song?" He has a good point adding
an artist's body of work will speak for them
long after they're gone, "No matter how
good you think you are as an artist people will
forget your name eventually." Peter White
is currently charting 'Talkin' Bout Love' from
his new Sony album 'Confidential.' Read
our updated interview.
Peter
White Talks About Peace Of Mind
April
27, 2004 - We asked 'Artist of the Month' Peter
White what gives him peace? Obviously he
said music, "Being able to play guitar
or piano absolutely gives me peace," says
the number one guitarist in North America. White
is also a fan of those small simple pleasures
in life, "I have this little Nintendo game
that I like, it's a vintage called Tetras. I
recently found it and take it everywhere. When
you're concentrating on that your mind can't
go anywhere else." The guitarist say's
through the years he's found a few pastimes
that give him respite from his face paced world,
"When I ride my bike it's impossible to
feel sad. Also when I look at my three year
old daughter it gives me peace because she has
peace." White's latest single 'Talkin'
Bout Love' is number one on both Smooth
Jazz Now's Top 30 and the R&R charts
in the U.S. Read

Peter
White Has Put His Worrying Days Behind Him
April
18, 2004 - Peter
White say's if he met a twenty year old
version of himself today he'd tell the young
chap, "You're going to be ok son."
The guitarist told Smooth Jazz Now he was a
real worry wart in his twenties and part of
his thirties. "One day I just stopped"
says White, "I asked myself what I was
so worried about and I couldn't come up with
an answer. It was all irrational and I said
to myself well why don't I just be happy and
content." He says, "I realized it
was a choice and I've been pretty much that
way ever since. White has a lot to feel positive
about his new album 'Confidential' is currently
#1 on our Canadian Smooth Jazz chart and he's
also on top on the U.S. R&R Top 30. Peter
White is our artist of the month for April. Read
part three of our new interview with Peter.
Peter
White Gets a Little Help From Christopher Cross
April
9, 2004 - Peter
White says he was already excited about
recording Brenda Russell's tune 'She's in Love'
but thanks to Paul Brown as producer things
just got better, "Paul said lets do it
and let's get Christopher Cross to sing and
I said if you can get Christopher to do it I'll
thank you forever" says White. He told
Smooth Jazz Now it was quite easy, "Sure
enough Paul called Christopher and he came by
and you know his voice sounds exactly the same
as you heard it twenty years ago. I mean everyone
remembers the first time they heard Christopher
Cross in 1980 with "Ride Like the Wind."
White says it's a true bonus on his new album
"Confidential" and not a bad move
for Cross, "I think that it's great that
Chris is branching out by playing with other
artists especially in Smooth Jazz so it's good
for him too so you never know what could happen.

Peter
White - Artist of the Month For April 2004
April
1, 2004 - His last album "Glow" released
in October of 2001 was a big hit reaching #
2 on Billboards Smooth Jazz chart. In fact most
of Peter
White's albums have spent time on the Billboard
charts. He was introduced to most of us via
his first big gig with Al Stewart dating back
to "Year of The Cat" in 1976. This
talented guitarist though is no ones sideman
anymore having won "Guitarist of the Year"
at the national Smooth Jazz Awards and a firm
place as an "A" list musician. His
new album "Confidential" release March
23rd already has a top ten hit, "Talkin'
Bout Love" in both Canada and the U.S.
We talked to Peter via phone on March 30, 2004. Read
our interview.
Peter
White Releases "Confidential," Tour
Dates
March
26, 2004 - It's his ninth album and one doesn't
need a crystal ball to predict its success. Peter White released "Confidential" this week
on Columbia Records and the first single "Talkin'
Bout Love" is already in the U.S. top 5.
The tune produced by Paul Brown also features
Jerry Hey's delicious horn arrangement. Hey
has worked with a plethora of acts including
George Duke, Jeff
Lorber and the Rippingtons. "Confidential"
also features Chris
Botti, Mindi
Abair, Brian
Culbertson, Michael Paulo and vocalists
Christopher Cross and David Sparkman. White
says listening to his own music is "like
staring at yourself in the mirror" adding
that it's hard to listen to the songs he writes
alone. White is going on the road this summer
to introduce the new album.

taking notes. Kirk along with Wave contest winners

Peter
White Gets Confidential
January
9, 2004 - Peter White calls his next album his
most intimate disc to date. The guitarist is
set to release his "Confidential' on Columbia
this March 23. The first single the soulful
"Talkin' Bout Love" features horn
arrangements by Jerry Hey and is being serviced
to Radio as you read this. As reported earlier
on this page Christopher Cross will be featured
on Brenda Russell's "She's In Love."
Other guest stars include Chris
Botti, Brian Culbertson, Mindi
Abair, Steve Ferrone, Lenny Castro, Paulinho
DaCosta, Michael Paulo, Rex Rideout, Mathew
Hager, and Steve Dubin. "By 'confidential'
I mean personal and revealing; that's exactly
what this record is to me," White explained.
"I play from the heart, which is where
music ultimately comes from. It's about tapping
into the soul and allowing the emotions within
to pour forth. The battle is to trust your instincts
without trying to be too clever, which only
ends up corrupting the process and seldom works
anyway." "Confidential" is White's
ninth solo album.
New
Peter White Album For 2004
December
16, 2003 - Peter White's long awaited follow

well as many others." White's latest CD
"Glow" was released in late 2001.
The guitarist is currently touring with saxophonist
Mindi Abair in a tour that was originally going
to be called "A Bloke and a Blonde play
Christmas Songs" but White says, "I
was persuaded to use the more polite "Peter
White Christmas featuring special guest Mindi
Abair". Read
our interview with Peter White.
