Patti Labelle Gets Tough On Diabetes
September 16, 2004 - Patti Labelle says it's all about self control when it comes to diabetes and she should know the singer was diagnosed 10 years ago. Labelle is a spokeswoman for a campaign called Diabetes Freedom and believes diabetes gives you a choice -- you either give up the junk food or give up your life. In the old days Labelle says she ate fried chicken, milkshakes and candy bars but has since learned alot of self control. She takes insulin four times a day, but she believes medicine can only go so far. She says the formula is quite simple, have a relationship with your doctor, be honest, eat right and get proper exercise.
