Ravi Shankar a Proud Father To Norah Jones

Ravi Shankar, says he watched his daughter win five Grammy's from his home in India on Sunday. Norah Jones Wins Big At The Grammy's
Feb 24, 2003 - What a night for Norah Jones! She was five-for-five at the Grammy's on Sunday night winning in all five of her nominated spots. Overall her 'Come Away with Me' album won eight awards if you include engineered, writing Grammy's etc... The 23 year old Texan beat out Bruce Springsteen for Album of the Year, she also won New Artist and Record of the Year, Pop Vocal Album and Female Pop Vocal Performance. Jones also faired well singing live on a night of average performances from big names like Faith Hill (Female Country Vocal Performance) who seemed to shout her way through 'Cry' and Avril Lavigne who can be forgiven considering this was her first visit to the awards. Looking very nervous Jones performed a perfect understated 'Don't Know Why.' "I was really nervous before performing," she said backstage. "I saw Aretha Franklin sitting in the second row and it really freaked me out." Jones was also having problems carrying her five Grammy's backstage - check out the picture of her dropping one! It's encouraging to see an album that crosses genre's win so many awards - Smooth Jazz radio has been very kind to Jones but so have the other formats and considering the album slides from Jazz to Smooth Jazz from Pop to Country this album could go on to sell another six million.

Norah Jones Embarrassed By Remix
Feb 8, 2003 - Norah Jones says she's new to the music business but she's learning fast that her and remixes don't mix - so to speak. She recently told the Los Angeles Times that after hearing a remix of her first hit 'Don't Know Why' she was slightly embarrassed calling it "the most absurd thing I've ever heard." Jones says she really has no problem with remixes in general, 'but this one was horrible' referring to the drum machines and her singing 'Don't know why..why…why..why.' Luckily, the head of her record company stood by her decision to nix the remix.
