Norah Jones: Acting Debut in " My Blueberry
Nights" November
14, 2007 - Internationally-acclaimed singer Norah
Jones has made her acting debut in Hong-Kong
writer and director Wong Kar-wai's first American
movie "My Blueberry Nights". The film
had the privilege to open the famous Cannes Film
Festival in May 2007. It will be shown in US cinemas
on 13th February 2008. Jones plays Elisabeth,
a young woman mired in depression over a recently
ended affair. She then embarks on a soul-searching
journey across America to sort out her questions
about love, while meeting a series of offbeat
characters along the way. The movie features Jude
Law, David Strathairn, Rachel Weisz and Natalie
Portman. For Jones, this movie was only an interesting
diversion from music, that remains her main passion.
The famous Indian musician Ravi Shankar's daughter
has contributed to the movie's original soundtrack
(with a new song called "The Story"),
that will be released on 5th February by Blue
Note with other tunes from Ry Cooder, Otis Redding
and Cassandra Wilson among others. - By Akbar

Norah
Jones Goes Deeper November
20, 2006 - Norah
Jones expects to get a little more intimate
on her next album. After surviving the sophomore
jinx the multi Grammy winner will release
her third CD "Not Too Late on January
30/2007. The singer says, "I think it
reflects more sides of my personality than
my first two records did. It has different
sides to it, it has a lot more variety to
it," For the first time she has a hand
in creating every song on the album, she wrote
or co-wrote ever song on the album. Jones
says she's more of a songwriter now than she's
been in the last 5-6 years. She also says
we should be ready for a hint of humor in
the lyrics and a few more instruments including
horns on "Not Too Late.' In the last
few years Jones has kept busy with her country
covers band The Little Willies and she's taken
up acting, starring in "My Blueberry
Nights" with Jude Law, Natalie Portman
and Rachel Weisz. Norah Jones debut album,
"Come Away With Me" sold 8 million
records and won 8 Grammy's.

Norah
Jones Refuses The Glitter November
28, 2004 - Don't expect Norah
Jones to be hanging out with Mary
Hart of Entertainment Tonight anytime
soon. The singer says she doesn't subscribe
to the "Star, entertainment"
scene. Jones appreciates the fact that
her debut album sold 9 million and all
those Grammy's didn't hurt but she's glad
the hoopla has died down. The singer says
now it's time for the real fans to come
out, "People who do care genuinely
care because they like the music and that's
awesome." Though her second album
"Feels Like Home" sold less
than half as much as the first it's still
a big success. Interestingly she says
all the recognition has been both exciting
and embarrassing. She has just released
her new DVD set "Norah Jones and

Norah
Jones to Re-Release 'Feels Like Home'
With Extras August
5, 2004 - Norah
Jones second album 'Feels Like Home'
is soon to turn into a double CD. Blue
Note plans to re-release the album with
lots of bonus features including three
previously unreleased songs, the original
"Moon Song," a cover of the
Boudleaux/Bryant staple 'Sleepless Nights'
and 'I Turned Your Picture to the Wall,'
penned by Jones' guitarist Adam Levy's
grandfather. The second disc will be a
DVD with live versions of album cuts 'Creepin'
In,' 'The Long Way Home' and 'In the Morning,'
recorded in March in Madrid, as well as
a cover of Gram Parsons' 'She.' An interview
with Jones plus music videos for 'Sunrise'
and 'What Am I to You?' round out the
package. "It's a total label thing,"
Jones told the Calgary Sun, "It's
good for people who are really big fans,
they like having all the extra stuff.
But it's kind of confusing to me. It's
the record labels way of getting as much
as they can, I guess. I'm not saying they're
total leeches or anything." The new
version of 'Feels Like Home' will be released
on September 21. Norah
Jones Forced to Downsize Summer Shows July
31, 2004 - Remember those great cheap
concert seats of the seventies? When we
could use our allowance cash to pick tickets?
Those days may be back this summer via
concert promoters scrambling to get fans
to attend some larger shows. Norah Jones
who is easily one of the recording industries
success stories of the last few years
has had to downsize her arena shows to
smaller venues due to slow selling tickets.
She's not alone, The Cure, Korn and Ozzy
Osbourne also plan to slash ticket prices
to stay on the road. Rolling Stone magazine
reports some tickets are as low as $10.
Van Halen who has just embarked on a comeback
tour is being a bit more creative, they're
offering food and beer vouchers with each
ticket sold. Christina Aguilera, Britney
Spears and touring festival Lollapalooza
all cancelled tours because of low ticket
sales. Some tours are immune to the drought
though Prince's Greatest Hits Tour featuring
Candy
Dulfer and Dave Matthews gigs have
done well. Norah
Jones Hits Four Million With 'Feels Like
Home' June
10, 2004 - As golden as Norah
Jones has been since the release of
her debut album in February 2002 it wasn't
surprising when some critics predicted
a rude awakening for her second 'Feels
Like Home.' After all the biz is filled
with one hit or one album wonders - Well,
Jones isn't one of them! Her latest has
just been certified quadruple-platinum
by the Recording Industry Association
of America. That's four million sales
in the U.S. alone. 'Feels like Home' debuted
at number one on the Billboard charts
and stayed there for six weeks. Jones'
first 'Come Away with Me' has been certified
nine times platinum.
Norah
Jones Confirms Fall Tour May
19, 2004 - Norah
Jones has just announced plans for her
biggest tour yet - biggest as in big venues.
Jones will play amphitheaters and arenas
that seat between 12,000-15,000 this fall.
The North American tour kicks off Aug 12th
in Antioch, Tenn. through to Nov. 14th in
West Palm Beach, Fla. The singer will first
complete a European tour slated for later
this month Including dates in France, Spain,
Portugal, Switzerland and Belgium. So far
Jones' second album 'Feels Like Home' has
sold 2.8 million copies in the United States
alone. Her debut 'Come Away with Me' sold.
8.5 million. For all of her tour dates go

Norah
Jones Thanks Boyfriend For Her Sanity March
31, 2004 - Norah
Jones say's she'll never be a Rock
n' Roll tragedy as long as her bassist
boyfriend Lee Alexander is around. The
singer credits Alexander for keeping her
sane when all the fame broke loose. She
says, "If I didn't have Lee, I would
have been nuts. Every decision I make
I mull over with him. He's half of this
whole thing." The twenty-four year
old singer says she has been dating Alexander
for the past four years, "I wanted
to marry him before all this (success)
happened. Not that we're getting married,
but we practically are now. I don't see
us breaking up. I mean, God, I hope not."
Norah
Jones No Britney Spears Fan March
24, 2004 - The list of reasons why we
love Norah
Jones just got bigger, she doesn't
care for the Britney Spears' of the world.
Jones thinks the record buying public
is bored with pop acts that sell sex first
and music lower on the priority scale.
On Britney Spears Jones says, "She's
got nice breasts. But I don't think she's
a great singer." Jones has easily
demonstrated she herself can sing on record
and more importantly live. She ads, "At
some point you get enough of all that
naked flesh and want to listen to something
decent. People like my music because they've
had enough of manufactured pop songs.
They're fed up with singers who look like
something out of a porn film."
Norah
Jones Likes To Rock March
15, 2004 - Picture Norah
Jones as an eleven year old. Smart,
pretty and what was she listening to?
"I really liked Poison and Motley
Crue," says the music sensation.
So much for cookie cutter generalizations.
Jones who's second album "Feels Like
Home" is sitting on top the Billboard
charts say's she was a real rocker growing
up and would consider doing a tribute
to eighties heavy metal at some point.
Jones said her first live show was a bit
tamer; it was a MC Hammer concert.
Norah
Jones Enjoyed Her Visit to Sesame Street March
11, 2004 - Norah
Jones say's performing on Sesame Street
was "truly a lot of fun."Jones
joins an impressive list of superstars
who have guest starred on the popular
children's show including Stevie
Wonder, James
Taylor, Billy
Joel, B.B.
King, Johnny Cash and Tony Bennett.
Jones whose second album is number one
on the Billboard Album charts for a fourth
straight week will appear on the show
in April. She will perform her hit "Don't
Know Why" or in this case "Don't
Know Y."
Norah
Jones Avoids Sophomore Jinx February
19, 2004 - "Feels like Home"
by Norah
Jones seems to have done what many
second albums couldn't and that's to continue
the uphill climb of a young musician who
exploded into the music scene. Though
it's doubtful the new album will sell
the eighteen million that "Come
Away With Me" accomplished, it
did sell one million in its first week
in the U.S. alone. Jones new EMI's Blue
Note Recording is already a Global Phenomenon
with number one positions in sixteen countries
this week. More.
Norah
Jones Forced To Move February
17, 2004 - There's a misconception in
the music business that all young music
stars go on a spending spree as soon as
the money comes in. That's certainly not
the case for Norah
Jones who along with bassist boyfriend
Lee Alexander have been living in relatively
humble dwellings in New York. The multi
Grammy winner says they are "moving
on up" to a new pad but the reason
is privacy not her new found fortune.
Turns out a New York newspaper printed
a photograph of her old home and then
the fans came - hanging around outside.
That was followed by fan mail "I
got a lot of letters. Some people sent
demo tapes. Some sent lyrics," says
Jones laughing. "My favorite was
a real estate agent who wrote, "You'll
have to move now. Call me." Norah
Jones' second album "Feels Like Home"
debuted at #1 on the U.K. charts this
week. The first single "Sunrise"
entered the national
Smooth Jazz Now chart last week at
# 21.
Norah
Jones Releases "Feels Like Home" February
10, 2004 - Norah
Jones says she's a little nervous
about releasing her second album today.
The singer told the press she's guaranteed
to cry if fans don't like the album. "Feels
Like Home" has already had one million
pre-orders before today so Jones may not
need any tissues. Jones had a lot of help
on the album including the same team that
constructed the first project, Lee Alexander
her partner and bassist, guitarists Adam
Levy, Kevin Breit, Tony Scherr and Jesse
Harris plus again Arif Mardin produced
along with Jones. This time around Jones
says she co-wrote more songs and instead
of just being opinionated she was "super
opinionated." Jones does have one
problem with the album and that's the
way it's being marketed. Her record label
Blue Note insisted on giving "Feels
Like Home" a lot of exposure on TV
before today, Jones says she was a little
afraid people would get sick of it even
before it went on sale. Also, on the album
are Levon Helm and Garth Hudson of the
Band and a duet with Dolly Parton on Lee
Alexander's "Creepin' In."
Norah
Jones "Sunrise" Available For

Real.com, Napster.com and MusicNet. The
new album due next month is again produced
by Arif Mardin and includes contributions

Hudson of The Band, jazz drummer Brian
Blade, Jesse Harris, Rob Burger and Tony
Scherr. Radio has already been serviced
with the single "Sunrise."
Norah
Jones Grabs Another Five Million Fans
December
24, 2003 - Norah Jones has some great
momentum behind her as she readies the
release of her new album. According to
the Recording Industry Association of
America her popularity is growing. The
singer sold more copies of her album this
year than she did the first year it came
out. Her debut CD "Come Away With
Me" sold five million copies in the
United States alone in the last twelve
months compared to three million the previous
year. Jones has also been a hit on DVD
her "Live
In New Orleans" concert feature
has a double-platinum award selling 200
thousand copies. Her new album "Feels
Like Home" will be released in February
2004.
New
Norah Jones Album For February December
20, 2003 - The follow up to Norah Jones'
highly successful debut "Come Away
With Me" will out in February. Jones
says she's tweaking a few things but basically
the album entitled "Feels Like Home"
is finishes. Expect guest ranging from
Jesse Harris who co-wrote the hit "Don't
Know Why" to Dolly Parton and Levon
Helm and Garth Hudson of The Band. Jones
plans to tour Europe in spring and North
America in July. The singer will also
appear on Sesame Street in 2004 having
just taped an episode. Jones says she
has no specific air date but the episode
may air sometime in April.

Norah
Jones to Join Dolly Parton At Country
Awards October
14, 2003 - Now here's a duet that might
not spring to mind when thinking of ideal
pairing but it sure could work! Norah
Jones and Dolly Parton. The pair will
sing together at the 37th annual Country
Music Association Awards in Nashville,
Tennessee on November 5, 2003. Jones and
Parton will sing "The Grass is Blue"
marking the first time they have worked
together. "The Grass is Blue"
is an original Parton song recorded by
Jones for the upcoming "Just Because
I'm A Woman; The Songs of Dolly Parton"
tribute album.
Norah
Jones Not Happy with Unauthorized Film October
9, 2003 - A new film currently being cast
has a suspicious resemblance to the real
life of Norah Jones and her father, world
music legend Ravi
Shankar and neither are very happy
about it. The film being made in India
tells a story of a world-renowned sitar
player and his long-lost American daughter
who sweeps the Grammy's. Both Father and
daughter feel its too close for comfort
with Jones calling the film "very
exploitative." Shankar's wife Sukanya
who is extremely up set with Anand wants
to make sure that everyone understands
that her family has nothing to do with
the project. Filmmaker Dev Anand is making
the movie with himself as the Shankar
part and he's recently traveled to New
York to cast some of the other parts.
Anand says he doesn't need permission
and he's only flattering the family by
making the film.

as the nominees were announced for the
next American Music Awards. Several artists
received two nominations including Celine
Dion, Norah
Jones, Beyonce, Avril Lavigne, Eminem,
Cher, Luther
Vandross, R
Kelly and Fleetwood

16th in Los Angeles. The 31st Annual American
Music Awards will be broadcast on ABC

Norah
Jones Wowing Critics on Summer Tour August
7, 2003 - It's not her first tour but
critics are keeping score as if it were.
Norah Jones who kicked off her summer
tour on June 6th is receiving rave reviews
for bringing it up a notch and expanding
her boundaries. Robert Hilburn, the L.A.
Times' pop music critic said, "Jones
didn't just open a new door in her music
and manner - she kicked it in, without
sacrificing her trademark style and class."
Jones who has cancelled most of her press
chats on this tour is sticking to the
music and staying away from the usual
frenzy that surrounds a new artist that
sells over thirteen million albums worldwide.
The tour features Jones' performing a
foot-stomping version of AC/DC's "Ride
On" and John Prines "That's
the Way the World Goes 'Round." There
are some new songs in the show most notably
bassist Lee Alexander's upbeat "Creepin'
In."
Norah
Jones Sells Seven Million July
30, 2003 - It just keeps getting better
for Norah Jones. The RIAA (Record Industry
Association of America) recently certified
her debut album "Come Away With Me"
seven times Platinum. That represents
sales of seven million copies in the United
States alone. It's estimated that the
album has sold over six million outside
the states. Jones is already working on
a follow up which she says will have a
slightly different sound. She is currently
on tour.
Norah
Jones Still Waiting For Her Grammy's July
9, 2003 - Sure good things come to those
who wait but for how long? Norah Jones
(pictured at left with producer Arif Mardin)says
even though she won five Grammy's at this
years ceremonies she still hasn't received
the trophies. The slow Grammy delivery
is nothing new considering the amount
of trophies handed out plus the fact that
each individual Trophy has to be engraved.
Her debut album "Come Away With Me"
also won three additional Grammy's for
other people. Jones' says she's anxious
to release the follow up album, even if
it's a big flop, because at least she's
moving ahead. So far she has recorded
eleven songs for the next record due in
2004.
Norah
Jones Comfortable Being Couch Potato June
23, 2003 - If you're going to be a couch
potato you might as well be comfortable
with it and Norah Jones definitely is.
The singer say's when she's not on the
road she's watching sitcoms like 'Friends.'
Jones seems to enjoy her r&r "I'm
like a zombie," she says,"My
boyfriend, he makes fun of me, because
I'm always talking about what's going
on with Rachel and Chandler." That
boyfriend is her bass player Lee Alexander
"He's like, 'Oh my God, you're such
a nerd, you call them by their names,
like they're your friends next door.'"
Like any good couch potato Jones says
she's become a little overweight "I've
never worked out. I'm just not good at
it. In fact, I need to lose a few pounds.
I don't care if I'm a little chubby. I
love to eat way too much."
