Norah Jones: Acting Debut in " My Blueberry
Nights"
November
14, 2007 - Internationally-acclaimed singer Norah
Jones has made her acting debut in Hong-Kong
writer and director Wong Kar-wai's first American
movie "My Blueberry Nights". The film
had the privilege to open the famous Cannes Film
Festival in May 2007. It will be shown in US cinemas
on 13th February 2008. Jones plays Elisabeth,
a young woman mired in depression over a recently
ended affair. She then embarks on a soul-searching
journey across America to sort out her questions
about love, while meeting a series of offbeat
characters along the way. The movie features Jude
Law, David Strathairn, Rachel Weisz and Natalie
Portman. For Jones, this movie was only an interesting
diversion from music, that remains her main passion.
The famous Indian musician Ravi Shankar's daughter
has contributed to the movie's original soundtrack
(with a new song called "The Story"),
that will be released on 5th February by Blue
Note with other tunes from Ry Cooder, Otis Redding
and Cassandra Wilson among others. - By Akbar

Jones Goes Deeper
November
20, 2006 - Norah
Jones expects to get a little more intimate
on her next album. After surviving the sophomore
jinx the multi Grammy winner will release
her third CD "Not Too Late on January
30/2007. The singer says, "I think it
reflects more sides of my personality than
my first two records did. It has different
sides to it, it has a lot more variety to
it," For the first time she has a hand
in creating every song on the album, she wrote
or co-wrote ever song on the album. Jones
says she's more of a songwriter now than she's
been in the last 5-6 years. She also says
we should be ready for a hint of humor in
the lyrics and a few more instruments including
horns on "Not Too Late.' In the last
few years Jones has kept busy with her country
covers band The Little Willies and she's taken
up acting, starring in "My Blueberry
Nights" with Jude Law, Natalie Portman
and Rachel Weisz. Norah Jones debut album,
"Come Away With Me" sold 8 million
records and won 8 Grammy's.
