June 20, 2003 - The ballots have finally been counted and trumpet master
Chris Botti and Jazz diva Diana Krall each won three National Smooth Jazz Awards. The new artist of the year honors were given to Norah Jones.

Norah Jones leads Nominations at National Smooth Jazz Awards
April 23, 2003 - To no ones surprise
Norah Jones received the most nominations with five for this years National Smooth Jazz Awards. The popular Texan was nominated for new artist, vocal and female Artist plus her song 'Don't know Why' is in the song of the year category and her album 'Come Away With Me' earned an album of the year nomination. Saxophonist Boney James received the second most nominations with four including male artist and album of the year. Other top nominees were Guitarist Norman Brown, trumpeter Chris Botti and guitarist Larry Carlton. You can vote for your favorite smooth jazz artist at www.nationalsmoothjazzawards.com. As reported yesterday the actual awards ceremony scheduled for June 18th in Los Angeles has been cancelled. Organizers cited the 'Current world climate' plus artists reluctance to fly as the major reasons for the cancellation. See the nominees

National Smooth Jazz Awards Show Cancelled
April 21, 2003 - The 4th annual National Smooth Jazz Awards ceremony scheduled for June 18th at The Wiltern in Los Angeles has been cancelled. The actual awards for this year will be given out but without the ceremony. Tim Goodwin President/Executive Producer of ShoCorp's who was to handle the event says, "Due to our current world climate, several of the valuable participants in this endeavor are apprehensive about rising to the commitment level that is required to make this event a success." Carol Archer of R&R magazine says nominations are currently being tabulated by the magazine and will be announced tomorrow with voting to commence immediately after. Voting will end one week prior to the June 18 awards announcement. Goodwin says he plans to put a ceremony together for next year's awards. You can vote at www.nationalsmoothjazzawards.com .

4th Annual Smooth Jazz Awards
April 5, 2003 - Expect an all star line up at the 4th Annual Smooth Jazz Awards. The event will take place on June 18 at The Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles and will feature a who's who in the world of Smooth Jazz. Acts confirmed include Smooth Jazz Now 'Artist of the Month'
Jeff Lorber also Peter White, David Benoit, Steve Cole, Dave Koz(left), Norman Brown, Rick Braun, Gerald Albright, Richard Elliot, Jeff Golub and Al Jarreau. Nominees are picked by Smooth Jazz radio stations in the U.S. as well as record companies, retailers, concert promoters and managers.
