Dusk Has Fun With Christmas December
8, 2004 - JazzTimes recently said, "Matt Dusk
could eat the average American Idol wannabe for breakfast." That's quite
a quote but one just has to listen to Dusk or spend some time with him to know
this young crooner has something very special. Survivor creator Mark Burnett thought
so casting Dusk in his reality series "Casino." Dusk has just followed
up his debut disc "Two Shots" with "Peace on Earth," a Christmas
EP on Decca records. The singer told Smooth Jazz Now that he didn't just want
to rehash old favourites but instead added one of his own holiday tunes called
"Christmas Is Finally Here." The collection also includes a reworking
of the famous Bing Crosby / David Bowie duet "Peace on Earth / Little Drummer
Boy," featuring Dusk and singer/ songwriter Hawksley Workman. We talked to
Dusk about Christmas, Vegas and his fast moving career. Read
our second interview with Dusk. Matt
Dusk Says Finding Fame Wasn't Easy July
15, 2004 - He's featured every week on the new Mark Burnett reality TV show 'The
Casino' but Matt Dusk says the road to Vegas and performing at the Golden Nugget
wasn't easy. "I went through one tough thing after another." says Dusk.
When he was recording his album 'Two Shots' his whole world began to crumble starting
with a break-up, "I was in a five year relationship with somebody I really
cared for and she was my first love. I had the rug pulled from under my feet and
being my first love I didn't know how to react." Then his manager and friend
Scott Richards passed away, "It seemed that every time I was crawling up
out of this hole I was being knocked down again." Dusk told Smooth Jazz Now
that through this emotional roller coaster he found a certain peace, "I thank
God for showing me what a really dark place is like and being able to crawl out
of it. I appreciate the good stuff a little more now." Dusk gets loads of
airtime on The Casino and his 'Two Shots' album is starting to get airplay across
Canada. Read our interview with Matt Dusk. Matt
Dusk Hits The Jackpot Vegas Style June
11, 2004 - Matt Dusk says if his latest big
break doesn't work he may just move on to something else. He may not have to,
the Toronto singer may have hit the jackpot with his latest gig. The singer is
all over the latest Mark Burnett reality show 'The Casino.' Dusk will clock over
40 minutes of airtime over the next 13 weeks on the show. 'The Casino' takes place
at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas and features a theme song by Dusk. He says he
feels like the luckiest man in the world with all the exposure. His album 'Two
Shots' featuring a Rat Pack inspired sound will be out June 22nd.
