Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten Creating Musical Storm
August 5, 2008 - Contemporary Jazz bass giants Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten have gathered their power in S.M.V and will shake the earth this summer (August, 12, 2008) with their debut CD “Thunder,” set to be released on famous crossover Jazz label, Heads Up International.

As Stanley Clarke recently declared in a press release: “We wanted to make a bass record with a sound that would be somewhat unexpected to the listener. The biggest hurdle was to make a record with three basses - very low-end instruments, by definition - that would still be as musical as possible, and I think we achieved that.”

This musical project came out after the three bass aces performed together for the first time in October 2007 at the Bass Player Live! Concert. During that evening, Stanley Clarke also received the Bass Player Lifetime Achievement Award.

In addition to these bass aces, “Thunder” features a group of talented guest artists that include keyboardists Chick Corea and George Duke, trumpeter Michael “Patches” Stewart and vocalist/beatboxer Butterscotch (aka Antoinette Clinton).

Marcus Miller Wanted to Help Corinne Bailey Rae
May 19, 2008 – There’s a new version of Deniece Williams’ “Free” on Smooth Jazz Radio and it’s by Marcus Miller featuring Corinne Bailey Rae. Miller says he was dumbfounded by Bailey when he first heard her on the radio. He says, "I was in the car and I heard her record, 'Put Your Records On.' I heard it on the radio, and I was like, wow, that sounds unique, who's that? They said Corinne Bailey Rae. And I'd seen advertisements and was always interested in what she might sound like, and when I heard her I got really excited. I called my manager and said, 'Look, can you find Corinne Bailey Rae and see if she'd be interested in doing something together?' And they called back and said, yeah, she's a big fan of yours." Since then Bailey has lost her husband, he was found dead on March 22, 08 and Miller sent his condolences to let her know he is available for her. Miller is set to act as host for the very first Playboy Jazz Cruise in January 2009. – by John Beaudin
