Lang Symphony Show In Jeopardy
February
4, 2004 - It was meant to be an affordable show featuring the
perfect match of k.d. Lang's sultry vocals and the strings of
the Edmonton Symphony but it may not happen. The original plan
to have Edmonton city council subsidize the Lang show via a
seventy-five thousand dollar contribution has been turned down
this week. Symphony CEO Elaine Calder says without help ticket
prices could soar to two hundred dollars each. The October show,
part of Edmonton's Centennial celebrations will now look for
other sponsors. Calder says the show is a natural considering
Lang's long history in the city and with the Edmonton Symphony
Orchestra.
KD Lang To
Cruise In Summer
December
15, 2003 - Kd Lang plans a little cruisin' next year. The singer
has signed on to perform on two cruises for the lesbian-themed
travel company Olivia. The Boston-to-Montreal itinerary is scheduled
for July 3-10 and will follow a mass wedding ceremony in Boston.
"I am excited for my first Olivia performance and the chance
to share my music with such an inspiring group of women,"
Lang said in a statement. The "lesbian honeymoon cruise"
will take up to 1,200 passengers on Holland America's MS Maasdam
ship, and Lang will give two performances during dockings, one
July 3 in Boston and the other July 4 in Provincetown, Mass.
