k.d. Lang Symphony Show In Jeopardy
February 4, 2004 - It was meant to be an affordable show featuring the perfect match of k.d. Lang's sultry vocals and the strings of the Edmonton Symphony but it may not happen. The original plan to have Edmonton city council subsidize the Lang show via a seventy-five thousand dollar contribution has been turned down this week. Symphony CEO Elaine Calder says without help ticket prices could soar to two hundred dollars each. The October show, part of Edmonton's Centennial celebrations will now look for other sponsors. Calder says the show is a natural considering Lang's long history in the city and with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
