Johannes
Linstead Takes a Little Extra Time to Do It His Way February
9, 2005 - We asked Canadian
Smooth Jazz Awards nominee Johannes
Linstead what the toughest part of recording was. The guitarist of the year
candidate told Smooth Jazz Now that writing is never a problem. "Before I
was into music I was always into art" says Linstead, "The sense of creativity
was always there so when it came to writing music it always felt like it always
flowed - I never had to force it." The guitarist says the most time consuming
is the studio stuff, "Definitely the mixing." Linstead likes to do things
himself but he understands sometimes that comes at a price, "I've never studied
sound engineering, I just taught myself. So it probably takes me a little bit
longer than someone who has been trained." The first Canadian
Smooth Jazz Awards are in Linstead's hometown of Oakville, Ontario April 10,
2005. Read our interview with Johannes
Linstead from February 2005. Nominations
