The new album simply titled, ‘Covers’ will be distributed on Starbuck’s Hear Music label.Taylor had had a long string of hits with other people’s music going back to the early 70’s. One of his first was Carol King’s ‘You’ve Got a Friend,’ Marvin Gaye’s famous 'How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You),' the Jimmy Jones and Otis Blackwell classic ‘Handy Man’ and ‘Up on the Roof’ by Gerry Goffin and Carol King. This man knows how to reinterpret other people’s music.
The new album will feature a few tunes that will easily fit the Taylor sound including Jimmy Webb’s ‘Wichita Lineman’ which was a huge hit for Glen Campbell, “On Broadway” which gained new life thanks to George Benson changing the arrangement in 1978, also Taylor will remake Leonard Cohen’s ‘Suzanne.’
Taylor’s last album was the live package ‘One Man Band’ on Hear Music. His last studio album was 2002’s ‘October Road.’ The album will be out in September. |
