New
Grover Live Album to Capture Magical Moments May
3, 2007 - It's not uncommon to hear Grover
Washington Jr. fans explain how "weird"
it is that the sax master is actually dead.
We lost Grover on December 17, 1999 but there
are works in the vaults including a live set
that will released on July 31. Monterey Jazz
Festival Records will release the disc to celebrate
the festival's 50th anniversary. Washington
Jr. was in fine form with his band, music director
Bill Jolly on keyboards and Donald Robinson
on keys, Richard Lee Steacker on guitar, Lanar
Brantley on bass, Steven Wolf on drums, and
Pablo Batista on congas and percussion. (See
track listing below) -

For Grover Tour Debuts Next Week March
16, 2004 - We lost him in December of 1999
and he remains a big part of the Smooth
Jazz framework. Grover
Washington Jr. His Sony press release
said it best "He maintained the middle
ground between jazz and rhythm-and-blues
with great style and grace." If you
want a taste of Grover's Inspiration check
out the "Groovin' for Grover Tour"
kicking off next week. Featuring heavyweights
likes Richard
Elliot, Jeff
Lorber, Paul
Taylor and Gerald
Albright. The tour will serve as a tribute
