Lightfoot Inducted in Canadian Songwriters' Hall of Fame
September 25, 2003 - We have all hummed to at least one or two of his songs and now Gordon Lightfoot has been inducted in the new Canadian Songwriters' Hall of Fame. Lightfoot who almost died last year from an abdominal hemorrhage was present at the ceremony yesterday but had to leave early. The ailing singer had to slip quietly away before he could be formally acknowledged. Canadian Idol winner Ryan Malcolm was on hand as Hall of Fame president Sylvia Tyson read the inductees names including the late Alfred Bryan, considered a forefather of Canadian songwriting, Nova Scotia country singer Hank Snow and early Quebec celebrities Felix Leclerc and Madame Bolduc.
