George Winston's Ambitious Tour
Schedule
August
18, 2003 - George Winston is well known for being a work horse when
it comes to touring and his current itinerary shows the pianist has
no plans on slowing down. Winston's just released concert schedule
stretches into may of 2004 and promises to include as many covers
as originals. Winston's latest album "Night Divides the Day,"
features 13 covers of doors hits including "People Are Strange,"
"Love Me Two Times," "Light My Fire" and "Love
Her Madly." The pianist credits the Doors for inspiring him to
start playing the piano, "When I heard ... 'Break on Through
(to the Other Side),' to me it was the greatest piece of music I'd
ever heard ... ," Winston said in a press release. "It is
a perfect song--the arrangement, dynamics, lyrics ... It was deeper
to me than anything I'd ever heard." Winston has also covered
Sarah McLachlan and Vince Guaraldi. Winston along with Jim Brickman
are the two biggest selling performers on Windham Hill records. Read
