Eddie
Bullen ~Things That Go Bump in the Night January
9, 2004 - Canadian Smooth Jazz great Eddie Bullen took a few moments out of his
hectic schedule to speak with us. He's busy working on keyboardist Kingsley Ettienne's
(pictured at left with Bullen) newest release, which should be available this
spring. However, it seems Eddie's plate is so full his own work keeps getting
kicked to the curb. He's leaving for Barbados to attend the Barbados Jazz Festival
(www.barbados.org/jazztickets)
where he will do some work on behalf of Barbados tourism, and on the domestic
side, he is overseeing work on the basement of his home. He tweaks his music where
he can but says Eddie, "It seems the best time for me to get work done is
4 am when I just don't have the interruptions."
Nominated in the
National Jazz Awards new "Smooth
Jazz Category" Eddie says he is delighted that the genre has been recognized
and will only grow from here. "I can see that in the near future there will
be categories for Smooth Jazz vocalist, keyboardist, guitarist, and so on."
Through his contact with Bill King, Eddie was aware that a Smooth Jazz category
was in the works for the National
Jazz Awards but he didn't quite believe his nomination when a friend called
to tell him she had heard the news on the radio. "I figured they had gotten
it wrong until I had a call from Mary (Kirk of The Wave in Hamilton). When I finally
realized it was true, of course I was really happy!"
"I am
thrilled for all the nominees," continued Eddie, "No matter who wins,
we are all in this together, supporting each other. This recognition will go along
way to giving Smooth Jazz in Canada a lot of integrity." Eddie's young sons
are looking forward to a special night out too. To cast your vote for your favorite

Eddie Bullen CD October 10th August
8, 2003 - Eddie Bullen the busiest man in Canadian Smooth Jazz says he finally
has the time to give us the release date for his next album - October 10th. The
Toronto keyboardist is currently working with Liberty Silver on a new project,
earlier this year the pair scored a Smooth Jazz hit with "Show Me the Way
to Love." Bullen spends half of his time writing and producing with other
acts but he told Smooth Jazz Now it was finally time to "give a little energy"
to his own project. The next album "will return to the sound of my first
CD "Nocturnal Affair" which was a little smoother than his last "Make
it Real." Canadian radio station should be serviced with his latest project
"De Organ Grinder" with Kingsley Ettienne; it's an interesting combination
of Smooth Jazz and Reggae. Radio station can connect with Bullen at eddie@eddiebullen.com
Eddie
Bullen Working On New CD April
3, 2003 - Toronto's Eddie Bullen just
contacted Smooth Jazz Now with an update on his new project. Eddie says the CD
is in the pre-production stage and the sound of the new album will be a little
smoother than his last one 'Make It Real,' "I'm going back to the sound of
my first album ; 'Nocturnal Affair' so it'll be more laid back" says Eddie
"On the second I got a bit aggressive." Eddie told us "it's all
in the moods and that's how I'm feeling right now." Eddie recently charted
on both Hamilton's The Wave 94.7 and Smooth Jazz Now's Chart with 'Show Me the
Way To Love' featuring the very talented Liberty Silver. We'll keep you up to
date on Eddie's progress. - by Shannon
