July
11, 2005 - Legendary band Earth, Wind and
Fire are putting the finishing touches on their first album with Sanctuary
Urban Records. Originally slated for late June, the release date for the album
"Illumination" is now set for September 20th. The 12 track outing is
a follow up to 2003's "The Promise" which broke a six year hiatus for
the band. "Show Me The Way", a pre-release track from the album, was
nominated for 2004 Grammy in the category of Best R&B Vocal by a duo or group.
The track "Lovely People" was written and produced by Black Eyed Peas

| Raphael Sadiq produced "Show Me The Way" as well as
three other tracks for the outing ("Love Together", "Pass You By",
"Work It Out"). Also participating in producing tracks are Jimmy Jam
and Terry Lewis. EW&F member Philip Bailey says the bands collaborations and
move towards the new soul movement made perfect sense. The move allows the band
to continue to utilize their vintage and unique sound, and keep the thrust of
their music on playing their instruments, while creating something new and fresh
for today's climate. Two tracks have appeared in the recent films "Robots"
and "Hitch". The Jam/Lewis collaboration "Love Dance" was
featured in "Robots", while the Big Boi/Sleepy Brown/Kelly Rowland collaboration
"This Is How I Feel" was featured in "Hitch". Kenny
G makes a guest appearance on a bonus cover of Outkast's "The Way You
Move", and the album includes guests appearances by Brian McKnight and Floetry.
September 20th can't come fast enough for EW&F fans, who are sure to get big
bang for their buck on this one. The group kicked off a North American tour on
June 24th in Chicago. - by Cheryl Philips |

and that they were both on tour together when the singer first took ill. Bailey
calls White "part of the fabric of society'' and he will really be missed.
