Eagles Turn Down
Super Bowl and Wish for Grand Ole Opry December
27, 2007 - Don Henley says the Eagles
have a goal for 2008 and that's to play the Grand
Ole Opry. The Eagles front man says the group
recently turned down a stint at the Super Bowl.
The sports even is the most watched on television
but Henley said that the real honour for the band
would be to play Nashville's Opry. It's not a
stretch considering the band is often named as
an inspiration for many country artists. The Eagles
also have the biggest selling country album right
now with the comeback CD "Long Road Out Of
Eden." The CD is currently # 3 on the Billboard
Top 200 Albums Charts. - Kari Graham
Justice
for The Eagles! Billboard Changes Policy "Long
Road" Crushes Britney November
7, 2007 - It looks like the Eagles
will be No. 1 after all on the Billboard 200
album charts. The magazine revisited their
policy to disqualify album sales from exclusive
deals like the Eagles pact with Wal-Mart.
Britney Spears was to be number one with "Blackout"
which sold a disappointing 290,000 but with
the new rule appropriately the Eagles
"Long Road Out of Eden" registering
sales of over 710,000 will occupy the top
spot.
Here
is what Billboard said about the Rule Change
In consultation with Nielsen SoundScan,
Billboard will now allow exclusive album
titles that are only available through one
retailer to appear on The Billboard 200
and other charts, effective with this week's
charts. Prior to this, proprietary titles
were not eligible to appear on most Billboard
charts.
"We know that some retailers will be
uncomfortable with this policy, but it was
inevitable that Billboard's charts would
ultimately widen the parameters of to reflect
changes that are unfolding in music distribution,"
says Geoff Mayfield, Billboard's director
of charts. "We would have preferred
to make this decision earlier, but only
became aware within the last 24 hours that
Wal-Mart would be willing to share the data
for this title with Nielsen SoundScan."
The
Eagles impressive
debut is second only to Kanye West' "Graduation"
in sales this year. His CD debuted at # 1
with sales of 957,000. "Long Road Out
of Eden" is the biggest seller in Wal-mart's
history.
Eagles manager
Irving Azoff added: "The band produced
and delivered an album of integrity that was
in keeping with their legacy and the
fans responded.

Eagles
- Review - Long
Road Out of Eden October
26, 2007 - I like most, go back a long way
with the Eagles.
As a teenager when there were only 10 albums
in my collection two of those were Eagles
LP's. The Eagles
quota for most of us former bell-bottom, mullet-top,
crotch rockers in the seventies was pretty
good. I
didn't have a close friend in high school
that didn't own at least "Hotel California"
or "One Of These Nights" The prolific
early Eagles
recorded one LP per year between 1972 -1977.
(ok, one of those was the "Greatest Hits")
The Long Run followed in 1979 and after many
years of playing live like a 'chainsaw in
a hurricane,' the band was burnt out on drugs,
groupies and each other. It was all over by
1980.More
Glenn
Frey Talks About the Eagles Return October
16, 2007 - "Long Road Out of Eden"
the Eagles
first full studio album since 1979's "The
Long Run" is set to be released on October
30 and Glenn Frey says up until 21
months ago the band was just goofing around
haphazardly looking for and writing tunes.
"There were times when we would work
for a little while, but we could never really
get everybody together to work for any long
periods of time mainly because we all live
in different places and we all have families,"
Frey, told Billboard Magazine. "So, it
became a little more difficult to parcel our
time to work on the record, but in the last
21 months obviously we found a lot of time.
Don (Henley) made a lot of sacrifices
by coming to L.A. often to work on the record,
coming from Dallas." Frey explains one
of his main goals on finally releasing the
album was simply to get over the hump and
to finally give the fans new music. Frey adds,
"we were able to transcend worrying about
whether we needed to make a modern record,
a country record, a rock and roll record,
a Henley solo album, a Frey solo album. All
of that all fell under the umbrella of the
Eagles singing and as long as we were
singing and we liked the songs, then the material
was right for us." Frey points out that
at this point in the
Eagles timeline it was important for the
band to have new Frey/Henley material proving
the band was a unit again. Joe Walsh and Timothy
B. Schmit will also sing two songs each on
the new double album. Frey who along with
Henley is the only remaining original member
of the Eagles
says the first disc on the album is meant
to simply re-introduce the band and disc two
is a "massive powerhouse that take you
on a journey." The lead off single by
J.D. Souther who has been called everything
from the "fifth Eagle" to the "silent
Eagle" because of his close collaberation
with Henley and Frey was actually a concert
tune for the band back in 1974. It was Frey's
kids who spotted an old clip of the band playing
the tune on Youtube spurring Frey's wife to
suggest the band finally record the song.

Sign of New Eagles album as they Ready Summer
Tour May
25, 2005 - It seems the Eagles
reunion that started over seven years ago
has been mostly about touring. The band has
not released a whole album of new material
since 1979's 'The Long Run' and have been
working on it's follow up for the last few
years. In April guitarist Joe Walsh appeared
on "The Howard Stern Show" and admitted
there was no release date set for the new
album in spite of the fact that all four members
were working hard on its completion. The band
is touring this summer though; dates have
been scheduled from August 11 to October 17(dates
below). On Wednesday, June 1 (8-10 p.m. ET),
the Eagles will bring their concert to life
on NBC with a 2-hour special taped in Melbourne,
Australia. Throughout the special, viewers
will be treated to a front row seat of the
sold out Eagles tour as Glenn Frey, Don Henley,
Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit perform songs
from the band's six studio albums including
hits "Peaceful Easy Feeling," "New
Kid in Town," "Tequila Sunrise,"
"Hotel California" and "Desperado."
Before the major Eagles tour Don Henley will
co-headline a tour with Fleetwood

Former
Eagles Randy Meisner Hospitalized August
10, 2004 - The original Eagles
bassist is in the hospital. Randy
Meisner was admitted on Friday with chest
pains. The 58-year-old who left the Eagles
after their 'Hotel California' tour in 1977
was taken to hospital in Burbank, California.
Meisner's manager Kevin White says, "He's
resting comfortably. He's not experiencing
any pain, he's doing well." Meisner is
most famous for the hit 'Take It To The Limit'
is said to be going through a series of tests
at the hospital. Interestingly, Meisner was
replaced by Timothy B. Schmit in both the
Eagles and Poco. The Eagles including Meisner
were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame in 1998. Read
our recent interview with Randy Meisner where
he talks candidly about him leaving both Poco
and the Eagles. Former
Eagles Member Bernie Leadon Quit To Survive May
12, 2004 - Bernie Leadon who was an integral
part of the first country oriented version
of the Eagles say's he walked out on the band
to survive. The guitarist who was replaced
by Joe Walsh said he felt burnt out from the
bands constant touring. His last album with
the Eagles was 'One Of These Nights' in 1975.
Leadon was twenty-nine when he left the band
and he says he simply spent all his time at
the beach after leaving and ate a lot of health
food. Leadon is currently on tour. For

New
Eagles "Best Of" Sells Two Million December
23, 2003 - To no ones surprise the latest
version of the Eagles greatest hits titled
"The Very Best of The Eagles"
is another big hit for the band. The two
CD set just picked up a double platinum
award selling two millions copies in the
U.S. alone. The new compilation featuring
almost every Eagles hit also has a bonus
DVD of the bands most recent single "Hole
In The World" as well as a featurette
on the making of the DVD. The Eagles surpassed
Michael Jackson's "Thriller"
a few years back with their "Greatest
Hits, 1971-75" as the biggest selling
album in U.S. history selling 28 million
copies. The band is hoping to release
their first album of totally new material
since 1979's "The Long Run"
in 2004. Review
- Eagles - The Very Best of December
1, 2003 I had the pleasure of interviewing
former Eagle Randy
Meisner a couple of years ago and
found a guilty pleasure in digging for
dirt. There have been a few books detailing
early versions of the band incorporating
all the typical rock n' roll clichés'
- too much booze, drugs and young women.
Meisner says the juicier stories were
about the dynamics within the band members,
Glen (Frey) and I got into a little fight
but it's something that just happened
and we kind of got mad at each other and
took a swing at each other in Knoxville
Tennessee," said Meisner with a nervous
laugh. It's important to note that this
was 1977 after "Hotel California"
and just before Meisner left the band
for good. Meisner adds, "At the time
to me it was just like two guys fighting
but it got really bad so at that point
I just decided to leave because I just
didn't like what I was doing anymore."

Meisner Remembers Tough Times With The
Eagles July
10, 2003 - Randy Meisner may have left
the Eagles in 1977 but he says he remembers
that day like it was yesterday. Meisner
who sang "Take It To The Limit"
and "Already Gone" with the
band says near the end of the 'Hotel California'
tour there was a lot of turmoil in the
band. Meisner told Smooth Jazz Now, "Glen
(Frey) and I got into a little fight but
it's something that just happened and
we kind of got mad at each other and took
a swing at each other in Knoxville Tennessee.
Meisner say's he can chuckle about it
now but things were tense. "At the
time to me it was just like two guys fighting
but it got really bad so at that point
I just decided to leave because I just
didn't like what I was doing anymore."
As for any regrets about leaving the Eagles
Meisner says, "not really but I wish
I could of left in a different way though.
I mean how are you going to be nice when
you leave." The current lineup of
the Eagles are now on tour. Read
our interview with Randy Meisner. No
New Eagles Album This Year May
27, 2003 - It looks like the long wait
for a new Eagles album just got longer.
Don Henley recently told Billboard magazine
that though their Farewell One tour is
going well the new album will not be out
this year. Here's what he said "I
don't know when the album is coming out,
but it won't be this year. "Hole
in the World"(a single) is the only
new material from the album that we will
be doing." Henley says he spends
most of his days doing interviews and
taking care of business while on tour,
"I'm usually on the phone all day.
The phone, the e-mails, and the fax machine
never stop." The Eagles are on tour
until at least July 25th. Henley says
the tour will probably be extended. The

New Eagles Album May
8, 2003 - The Eagles released their last
album of new material 'The Long Run' in
1979 and it looks like the follow up could
finally be released this year. Billboard
reports The Eagles are close to putting
the finishing touches on the new CD. The
word is the band wants to complete the
project before the fall, and a new single
titled ``Hole in the World'' could come
out during the group's upcoming tour.
On this album the band is down to four
members with guitarist Don Felder leaving
and suing the group. The Eagles' ``Farewell
One'' tour begins Tomorrow in Richmond,
Virginia.
