Corinne Bailey Rae’s Husband Found Dead
March 24, 2008 - Corinne Bailey Rae has lost her husband. Jason Rae, 31, was found dead in an apartment yesterday of an apparent drug overdose. Police had arrested a suspect on suspicion of supplying the drugs but he was later released. |

Athorities are still awaiting toxicology reports.Bailey Rae, 29, met her husband while working as a cloakroom attendant at a Leeds jazz club. They married in 2001. The singer's record company EMI has released a statement announcing that the star is too distraught to speak about her loss and urging the press to give her time to come to terms with the tragedy. The statement reads, "EMI Records would like to offer its sincere condolences to Corinne Bailey Rae and the Rae family at this tragic time. We ask that the media respects Corinne's privacy and that of her entire family." Jason Rae was a saxophonist with the Haggis Horns, who have performed with Bailey Rae as well as Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and the band Nightmares on Wax. Bailey Rae is a singer-songwriter and guitarist who released her self-titled debut album two years ago. Bailey Rae say's she has a lot of gratitude
towards John Legend. The singer is currently
on tour wowing a whole new audience with Legend,
a long time supporter. Bailey is loving every
second of it; "We are getting a really
good response, standing ovations and everything.
It's a good match; I think his audience really
appreciates what we do. They're quite open-minded."
Life is good but Bailey told Billboard Magazine
that she's looking forward to some rest, "Over
that time I guess I'll start writing and starting
to get my head in that mode again, says Rae,
"Going from performing all the time and
doing lots of promotion to actually being more
creative again. I'm really looking forward to
writing more. I can't wait for that -- for the
next phase of things." The singer has been
quoted numerous times about wanting to get a
go on her sophomore album. Rae is working the
third single "I'd Like To" from her

Wonder is a huge fan but Corinne
Bailey Rae claims she's just a simple
girl with modest needs in life. The British
Singer still lives in her quiet hometown
of Leeds, England, "I paid $256,000
for a flat in Leeds and I got flak for it.
People think I should buy a castle or something.
I can't afford a castle. Says the singer,
"Plus, I like being part of a community.
Where I live is full of artsy types - women
in their 50s who live with cats and draw
feminist cartoons in their spare time."
