Carly
Simon Slowly Revealing Who's So Vain
May
7, 2004 - When NBC sports chairman Dick Ebersol paid Carly
Simon fifty thousand dollars last year he was helping a
charity but he also won the right to know who the song 'You're
So Vain' was about. The NBC Olympics executive had to promise
he'd keep it a secret though something that Simon can't seem
to do. The singer is slowly unraveling the mystery one letter
at a time. On her visit to 'Live With Regis and Kelly' she volunteered
another letter 'e' to her previous clues of ``a'' and ``r.''
Though the letters work Simon has said publicly that the tune
was not about ex husband James
Taylor but it could be about Warren Beatty or Mick Jagger.
The former has always been the leading candidate when it comes
to rumors.

Simon Sues Famous Dakota Apartments
September
30, 2003 - It's a classic case of he said/she said and Carly
Simon in right in the middle. The singer is suing the Board
for the famous Dakota apartment building over a one bedroom
suite she partly paid for but never received. Simon who put
ninety nine thousand dollars as a down payment for the apartment.
This is the same building where John Lennon lived and Yoko Ono
still lives. Lennon was shot and killed in 1980 in front of
the building. An attorney for the apartment's owners says Simon
was "rude and disrespectful" during a May interview
and she demanded she be able to install a second bathroom or
it would be a "deal breaker." He says Simon cancelled
the contract. Simon's lawyer says it was the Board that was
nasty and Simon's interview was "rude and accusatory."
The Truth Behind "You're
So Vain"
August
2, 2003 - It's not exactly a grassy knoll mystery but for years
music fans have wondered who inspired the Carly Simon hit "You're
So Vain." For the right price you could know but there's
a lot of fine print on the deal. Simon has put the answer up
for auction to raise funds for the community services on Martha's
Vineyard. Here's the catch: the winner has to sign an agreement
never to tell anyone. The auction will take place on August
4th. The three leading candidates have always been Mick Jagger,
Warren Beatty or James Taylor. Simon was once married to Taylor
and has said publicly that it wasn't about him. We put our money
on Warren Beatty.
