Brown To Deliver New Album In June
May
13, 2004 - Guitarist Norman Brown
is currently charting with Brian
Culbertson on 'Come On Up' from the Culbertson album of the same
name but Brown should return to top billing shortly. The BWB
guitarist will release his follow up the Grammy winning 'Just Chillin'
next month. Producer Paul Brown will return behind the controls. Also
expect a follow up to 'Groovin' from BWB
featuring Brown with Rick Braun
and Kirk Whalum possibly later
this year. Brown's last album 'Just Chillin' from 2002 won a Grammy
for Best Pop Instrumental Album.
BWB To Record
and Tour This Year
January
7, 2004 - To no ones surprise Smooth Jazz supergroup BWB made the
top 20 in both Canada
and the U.S.
year end charts. The group consisting of Saxophonist Kirk
Whalum, trumpeter
Rick
Braun and guitarist
Norman
Brown plan to record
their second album later this year and plan to tour in February. Whalum
told the Associated press the first BWB album was just a way of testing
the waters without too much commitment, "unlike marriage, we
thought this is something you want to try out first. If we were going
to be committed to it, we wanted to make sure. The initial infatuation
of it was undeniable. We love one another and love playing together....
We can't wait to get back into the studio." Whalum was recently
nominated for a Grammy
for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel for the disc "The Gospel According
To Jazz Chapter II."
Your
Smooth Jazz Christmas CD's
September
23, 2003 - Remember when it was slim pickins' for variety in Christmas
music? Not that long ago Christmas carols meant Bing Crosby, Perry
Como or Nat King Cole, not that there's anything wrong with the classics.
What music brings us back to Christmas past better than Cole singing
Mel Torme's "Christmas Song?" Well, for the last ten years
new Christmas music by contemporary acts has flown off the shelves
and every genre in music has reaped the benefits. Even Jethro Tull
is releasing a holiday album! In Smooth Jazz this year some of the
'A' list acts to contribute include Saxophonist Mindi
Abair, Jim
Brickman, BWB
and the Yellowjackets.
The latter is now available on the official Yellowjackets
site www.yellowjackets.com
but will be officially released October 7th titled, "Peace Round
a Christmas Celebration."(pictured Left) One dollar from every
sale will go to the Union Station Foundation, an organization that
provides help for the homeless. Jim
Brickman releases
his second Christmas album "Peace" today. The title track
first single, a non Christmas song featuring Collin Raye is already
an A.C. hit. Watch for our interview with Jim
Brickman coming soon.
Verve will release a traditional Jazz compilation from their "For
Lovers" series on November 21st. We will keep you updated on
further holiday albums.
