Bruce Hornsby Feelin' Jazzy! June
21, 2007 - Remember when Bruce
Hornsby almost signed to the New Age Label
Windham Hill in the mid eighties? Would he have
gone soft in the company of George Winston or
Nightnoise or would he have arrived sooner to
the sound of his new album "Camp Meeting?"
The pianist extraordinaire has finally arrived
firmly in Jazz a genre he has flirted with on
most of his albums. The instrumental CD, to be
released on Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony
BMG on August 7. Joining Hornsby will be bassist
Christian McBride and drummer Jack DeJohnette.
Expect interpretations of John
Coltrane, Miles
Davis, Thelonious
Monk and Bud Powell tunes as well as, or course
a few Hornsby originals. "I've spent my entire
life combating closed-mindedness in music as well
as the lack of an adventurous spirit," says
Hornsby, "Just like all my music, this jazz
album is coming from a natural place in me."
Hornsby says "Camp Meeting" "Bill
Evans-meets-the hymnbook. His last CD was a duo
effort with long time friend Ricky Scaggs and
before that Hornsby charted on Triple A charts
with "Gonna Be Some Changes Made" from
"Halcyon Days." - by John

New
Bruce Hornsby Live DVD On the Way May
26, 2005 - On Tuesday, July 26, Columbia Records
will release 'Three Nights on the Town"
a special DVD package chronicling three historic
New York performances by Bruce
Hornsby in October 2004. Recorded during
Historic Three Night NYC Run in October 2004,
"Three Nights on the Town" Includes
Full "Live at Town Hall" Concert,
shot in High Definition & Recorded In
5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound PLUS "Three
Nights on the Town" Documentary Footage
Including Backstage Rehearsals, Revelatory
Interviews, Madcap Cab Rides & More.
Bruce
Hornsby spent the last week of October 2004
in New York with his band, The Noisemakers,
to perform three unique concerts at three
historic Gotham venues: the venerated Town
Hall, the legendary jazz mecca the Blue Note,
and Carnegie Hall's prestigious Zankel Hall,
where Bruce performed a rare solo piano concert.
The centerpiece of Bruce Hornsby's New York
City mini-tour was his sold-out Town Hall
concert (October 29, 2004). Shot in high definition
video and recorded in pristine 5.1 Dolby Digital
Surround Sound, Hornsby's "Live At Town
Hall" concert is included on Three Nights
On The Town. Featuring stellar performances
of material spanning his career from his days
with The Range to his Columbia Records debut
album, the Grammy-nominated Halycon Days,
the "Live At Town Hall" concert
showcases a seamless flow of fan favorites,
surprising rarities, unexpected covers, greatest
hits, and much more. Hornsby (piano, vocals,
accordion) and The Noisemakers--Bobby Read
(horns, vocals), Sonny Emory (drums), Jervonny
"JV" Collier (bass guitar), Doug
Derryberry (guitar, vocals), John "JT"
Thomas (keyboard)--were loose and playful
that night and the improvisational and compositional
magic are especially palpable on the DVD's
concert portions.
In addition to the Town Hall concert, Three
Nights On The Town contains a behind-the-scenes
fly-on-the-wall documentary lensed that same
week in October, featuring intimate live footage
shot during Hornsby & The Noisemakers
two SRO shows at the Blue Note, revelatory
rehearsal footage of Bruce preparing for his
solo piano performance at Zankel Hall, extensive
interviews with Hornsby and his bandmates,
and vintage glimpses of Bruce and company
at work and at play in glittering Manhattan.
In celebration of the release of Three Nights
on the Town, Bruce Hornsby will hit the road
for an extensive US concert tour featuring
both band and solo performances as well as
co-headlining dates with Bob Weir & RatDog.

Hornsby Readies 'Halcyon Days' For August May
28, 2004 - It should be a busy summer for
Bruce Hornsby.
The pianist is kicking off a small U.S. tour
in July to promote the August release of his
new album 'Halcyon Days.' As previously reported
you can expect to hear a few of Hornsby's
heavy weight music friends on the album including
Sting,
Elton John
and Eric
Clapton. John duets on 'Dreamland' and
Sting will share vocals on 'Gonna Be Some
Changes Made.' Clapton plays guitar on three
tracks and sings one track 'Candy Mountain
Run.' Hornsby will also kick off a European
tour on September 10 in Dublin, Ireland. He
is also set to sing the U.S national anthem
accompanied by Pat Metheny at this Sunday's
Indiana Pacer-Detroit Pistons playoff game.
Elton
John & Bruce Hornsby Recording Together December
16, 2003 - The next Bruce Hornsby album
is shaping up to have a few Rock'n Roll
superstars. While Hornsby was in England
a few months ago he recorded four songs
with Eric Clapton, now Hornsby is working
with one of his all time musical heroes
Elton
John. The two pianists worked together
on the ballad "Dreamland." Hornsby
spoke about the session that took place
in Atlanta on his website www.brucehornsby.com
"Elton is amazing in that he can wake
up in the morning and not even have to warm
up his voice. And it's all there, right
away. The rest of us phlegmatic flounderers
can only look on in admiration." Bruce
Hornsby Records NPR McPartland Show August
3, 2003 - Bruce Hornsby, jack of all genres
- or at least the interesting ones recently
appeared on National Public Radio's "Piano
Jazz with Marian McPartland." As Hornsby
sat down behind the piano he said, "I
want to be Marian McPartland when I grow
up." The two played together on Bud
Powell's "Parisian Thoroughfare"
as well as on "Solar" by Miles
Davis. "She is an amazing woman and
a wonderful player," remarked Hornsby.
Word is the show will air on NPR in early
2004. Expect a few original Hornsby songs
like "King of the Hill" and "Sneaking
up On Boo Radley." Hornsby is set to
release his Greatest Hit's package, "The
Radio Hits of Bruce Hornsby" on October
7th. Bruce
Hornsby to Release Greatest Hits in October July
16, 2003 - Bruce Hornsby's sound has gone
through some major musical evolutions since
his first hit "The Way It is"
in 1986. That growth should be apparent
on his new greatest hits to be released
by RCA on October 7th. The "best of"
titled "The Radio Hits of Bruce Hornsby"
will span Hornsby's total body of work from
1986 to 2003. If you own all the albums
already this package will include one new
previously unreleased tune, it's a version
of "Go Back to Your Woods", a
song co-written with Robbie Robertson that
to date has only been available on Robertson's
1991 CD "Storyville". Also expect
live versions of two Hornsby songs made
famous by other performers, "The End
of the Innocence"(Don Henley) and "Jacob's
Ladder"(Huey Lewis). Bruce
