Bob
Baldwin Becomes a Smooth Jazz DJ September
9, 2004 - Dave Koz does it, so does Ramsey Lewis,
Eric Marienthal and Chris
Botti. They are all successful Smooth Jazz artists who have branched out into
hosting radio shows. Now Tama Broadcasting has signed a deal with Bob
Baldwin which will have the keyboardist hosting afternoon drive shows at WJSJ/WSJF
in Jacksonville and St. Augustine, Florida, as well as WSSJ in Savannah, Georgia.
Baldwin will also be a Music Director and overall Consultant for the company.
He will also assist with the coordination of live concert events throughout northeast
Florida and southeast Georgia, as well as other promotional projects. Baldwin
just released his 9th album 'Brazil Chill' on the A440 label . The album joins
elements of Contemporary Jazz and Brazilian music. It's important to point out
that Baldwin is no stranger to hosting radio shows he started in College (WGEV),
and then he further honed his radio skills at 1010-WINS (NYC), WBLS (NYC) between
1981-1985 before pursuing music full-time. More information can be found at www.bobbaldwin.com

Bob
Baldwin To Go Brazilian in 2004 December
18, 2003 - He says Brazilian music has always been close to his heart and in 2004
he'll show just how close. Keyboardist Bob Baldwin says he's excited about his
next album, possibly a double disc - one featuring the Bossa Nova sound and the
other with Smooth Jazz. The keyboardist has been so prolific he says he couldn't
possibly put all the music on just one disc - expect the project to be released
in February or March of 2004. Some of the guests include drummer Ivan Conte, bassist
Alex Malheiros of Brazilian group Azymuth, percussionist Cafe Da Silva, guitarist
Phil Hamilton and saxophonist Jeff
Kashiwa. Bob
Baldwin a Big Herbie Hancock Fan May
6, 2003 - Keyboardist Bob Baldwin has been on Smooth Jazz Now's top 20 charts
for the last 5 Weeks (currently # 7) with "The Way She Looked at Me"
and the New York-based musician says he's thankful to Jazz Legend Herbie Hancock.
Baldwin say's Hancock's early Fender Rhodes work especially on the track 'Chameleon,'
still wows him. Baldwin adds Hancock's work stands up today "Even now I've
never heard anybody take a Fender Rhodes and do what he did with it, because of
the way the panning--the way the keyboard was bounced back and forth between the
speakers, I was like, Oooh! I love this. So I was just trying to create that same
kind of energy, which is that '70s, retro, neo-soul kind of flavor." Bob
Baldwin's latest album is 'Standing Tall' on the Narada Jazz Label.
