Scott and Company To Pay Tribute To Jobim and Getz
August
27, 2003 - Carnegie Hall in New York City will be filled with lively
Brazilian flavor on October 28 as an all star group pay tribute to
Jazz legends Antonio Carlos Jobim and Stan Getz. Smooth Jazz sax superstar
Tom Scott will be there along with Jobim's favorite vocalist Gal Costa
plus Cesar Camargo Mariano and Romero Lubambo among others. The event
is being put together by the Fujitsu Concord Jazz Festival. Jobim
known as the founding father of Brazil's Bossa Nova died in 1994 at
the age of 67. Some of his of classic tunes include "The Girl
from Ipanema" "Corcovado" and "Desafinado."
He died of Heart failure. Getz was known as one of the top Sax tenors
