Baker Plans Her Comeback
March
11, 2004 - Well it's about time! Back in 1984 Anita
Baker came in with a bang with the sophomore album
"Rapture"
that produced big hits like "Sweet Love"
and "Caught Up In The Rapture." Three more
albums followed and then Baker was gone - she left
the music business. After a ten year absence the Grammy
winner is back and talking about her exodus. As previously
reported the singer initially left to look after her
two boys but she was also busy looking after her parents.
Baker's mother was suffering from Alzheimer's disease
and her father was dying of bone cancer. Unfortunately
both parents passed away and now the boys are older
so Baker is back. She will produce at least two albums
for Norah Jones label Blue Note, the first coming out before the end
of the year. Baker says she's happy to be coming back,
"I didn't know that anybody would give a hoot.
I'm pleasantly surprised," says the singer.
