Lennox Wins An Oscar
February
29, 2004 - It was a huge evening for Peter Jackson and "Lord
of The Rings - Return of the King" at the Academy Awards tonight,
the blockbuster picked up 11 Oscars. Winning in every one of its categories
and of course that included a "Best Song" trophy for Annie
Lennox for "Into the West." Canadian Howard Shore also
shared in that award and won another Oscar for "Original Score."
Lennox dedicated the award to her mother, who died last year, and
the late composer Michael Kamen. The 49 year old Scottish singer said
she was "Stunned" when her name was called. On stage she
thanked the man who made it all happen, "I would like to thank
Peter Jackson so much for inviting me to be part of this extraordinary
project. Thank you so much Peter, it's amazing."

Lennox Nominated For Oscars
January
29, 2004 - After winning a Golden Globe award on Sunday night Annie
Lennox could win
the ultimate trophy next month with her nomination for an Oscar. Lennox
is nominated for the song that got her the Golden Globe "Into
the West" from "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the
King." Also nominated for "Original song are Sting,
Elvis
Costello and Michael
McKean of Spinal Tap fame. Sting's
nomination was for "You Will Be My Ain True Love" from "Cold
Mountain." Costello's was nomination was for "Scarlet Tide"
also from "Cold Mountain." Peter Jackson's "Lord of
the King : Return of the King" lead nominations with eleven.
The Oscars will be given out February 29th in Los Angeles.
