Norah Jones to Release New Album in Spring Jones will really be promoting this project with tons of shows this year. She is set to appear at many festivals including a stint at the Hollywood Bowl. Though she has never out-performed her debut album, "Come Away with Me," from 2002, the nine-time-Grammy winner, with the famous rootsy voice, just keeps belting out the tunes. Norah insists on writing songs that speak to her soul more than returning to the same radio-formula hits of the past. - By Shannon Edwards Norah Jones Excited about Experimenting With Summer Festivals The Grammy winner has also just released a new single and video, “Young Blood” and is ready to show crowds a new side of her music and playing. Jones is now stepping out from behind the piano and playing more guitar. In fact she plays guitar on the new album “The Fall.” She also promises an interesting set-list for her summer gigs including doing some cover tunes with her new band that helped her display a more experimental style on her latest offering. Norah Jones has won 12 Grammy awards as a result of her four studio albums (that all reached the Top 5 on the Billboard charts) and special project with other performers. – by Kari Graham 10 Things You Might Not Know About…Norah Jones 2. Norah Jones beat the sophomore Jinx by selling over 4 million copies of her second album “Feels Like Home.” 3. Norah and her husband (then boyfriend) bassist Lee Alexander waited a few years to buy a nice New York pad following the success of her first two albums. But all the cash was not the reason – it was a need for privacy. 4. Norah Jones says when she’s not touring she’s a couch potato. "I'm like a zombie," she says,” my boyfriend, he makes fun of me, because I'm always talking about what's going on with Rachel and Chandler." 6. Norah Jones huge Grammy wins in 2003 did more for her sales than any other artist in history. Sales of her debut album increased by nearly a half (m) million copies in the week after she won five Grammys. That's the biggest post-Grammy sales jump ever. 7. Faith Hill is a huge Norah Jones fan 8. Norah Jones father (famous Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar) told John Beaudin of Smooth Jazz Now that he knew she had great talent even as a child but added he can't take any of the credit for her success because she grew up in America. |

Norah Jones: Acting Debut in " My Blueberry
Nights" November
14, 2007 - Internationally-acclaimed singer Norah
Jones has made her acting debut in Hong-Kong
writer and director Wong Kar-wai's first American
movie "My Blueberry Nights". The film
had the privilege to open the famous Cannes Film
Festival in May 2007. It will be shown in US cinemas
on 13th February 2008. Jones plays Elisabeth,
a young woman mired in depression over a recently
ended affair. She then embarks on a soul-searching
journey across America to sort out her questions
about love, while meeting a series of offbeat
characters along the way. The movie features Jude
Law, David Strathairn, Rachel Weisz and Natalie
Portman. For Jones, this movie was only an interesting
diversion from music, that remains her main passion.
The famous Indian musician Ravi Shankar's daughter
has contributed to the movie's original soundtrack
(with a new song called "The Story"),
that will be released on 5th February by Blue
Note with other tunes from Ry Cooder, Otis Redding
and Cassandra Wilson among others. - By Akbar

Norah
Jones Goes Deeper November
20, 2006 - Norah
Jones expects to get a little more intimate
on her next album. After surviving the sophomore
jinx the multi Grammy winner will release
her third CD "Not Too Late on January
30/2007. The singer says, "I think it
reflects more sides of my personality than
my first two records did. It has different
sides to it, it has a lot more variety to
it," For the first time she has a hand
in creating every song on the album, she wrote
or co-wrote ever song on the album. Jones
says she's more of a songwriter now than she's
been in the last 5-6 years. She also says
we should be ready for a hint of humor in
the lyrics and a few more instruments including
horns on "Not Too Late.' In the last
few years Jones has kept busy with her country
covers band The Little Willies and she's taken
up acting, starring in "My Blueberry
Nights" with Jude Law, Natalie Portman
and Rachel Weisz. Norah Jones debut album,
"Come Away With Me" sold 8 million
records and won 8 Grammy's. |

November 15, 2011 - Dave Koz fans are thrilled with his fourth Christmas album. All the songs on his new release “Ultimate Christmas” are compilations from his three previous holiday albums. Now this is ringing in the festivities Koz style!
October 25, 2011 – It was only a matter of time before the Air-Com Radio Network added another station to its line-up. Interestingly, the new station attracts the same demographic as the very popular Smooth Jazz Now – 35-64 adults.
October 24, 2011 – It’s a great time to win an iPad-2! With the Holidays just around the corner you could consider it a great present for yourself or, better yet, give it to the one you love!
October 20, 2011 – This is no ordinary album. In fact, there is nothing normal about this album and that’s what makes this one of the most perfect projects that’s ever come across my desk.
– With two more Smooth Jazz stations (WLOQ in Orlando and Wave/Toronto) giving up on the format this week we thought it was time to mix up the genre, just a bit! “Smooth Jazz Now” has decided to add more life to this format.
– On her third album Colbie Caillat has decided to strategically give us an uptempo summer-vibe. It still sounds like her smash debut “Coco” but this time it’s Colbie with caffeine and it’s positive and fun
– There are not too many things in life as deliciously lazy as Michael Franks voice. The guy could chill out someone on deaths door. Seriously, angst has no place on a Michael Franks record – he’s good at one great thing..making you feel good!

– Not many groups have stood the test of time like Airborne. Coming in around the time that the NAC format was really starting to cook, 1988, this outfit grew with every project, gig and album. Having just released their most powerful album yet, New Horizon’s, it looks like the world is ready for this, a full dose of positive, social conscious fusion. We sat down with the band to chat about all the twisting, yet beneficial roads taken.
– The smart ones in life know that it’s not how you fall down in life that counts but how you get up. Zach Bandolin has had his fair share of topsy-turvy moments but the guitarist keeps swinging.
- French Smooth Jazz guitar sensation Emmanuel Abitebol, more known as U-NAM, came to fame with his widely acclaimed somophore album ‘Back from the 80’s’ released in 2007.
- Programming Smooth Jazz Radio has allowed me to discover talent over the decades and follow the twists and turns in their career. Such is the case of saxophonist Steve Cole an artist whom has played on numerous number #1 Smooth Jazz hits and been a regular spin on most smooth jazz radio stations play lists.
– There’s always been an understated value to everything that Sade does and sameness to her entire repertoire. That quality of old wine has served the singer/band well… until now. Unlike Norah Jones who has, at least, tried to mix-up-the-pot, Sade really needs to stop wearing the same dress to every party.
– Well, one things for sure, Mindi Abair is not shopping on Main Street anymore. As they say, “run away from the past and eventually it will run into you.”
Jan 31, 2012 - Good news for all the Norah Jones fans out there! The singer is set to release a new album in spring called 'Little Broken Hearts.' This will be Jones' fifth studio CD and she will be joined by producer and musician, Danger Mouse who is notably the backbone for the project. He also co-wrote many of the tunes with her.
May 18, 2010 – Norah Jones says she hasn’t done too many festivals in the past because her music was too “intimate and quiet.” But the singer recently told Billboard magazine that it’s all going to change this summer with a host of festivals including Bonnaroo, the Montreux Jazz Festival and Lillith Fair. Jones says, “Now it's a more dynamic set and I'm excited to play in front of some people that may not even be fans but are just around."
May 18, 2010 – Did you know that Norah Jones has been one of the most written about artists on Smooth Jazz Now.com?

December 8, 2004 - Looks like the sun won't set any time soon on Norah Jones. The singer was nominated for five Grammys yesterday including nods for Pop Vocal Album and Female Pop Vocal for her second CD "Feels Like Home." The late Ray Charles was another multiple nominee with seven (his album had 10 nominations) and the biggest artist heard on Smooth Jazz radio was Alicia Keys with eight nominations.
November 28, 2004 - Don't expect Norah Jones to be hanging out with Mary Hart of Entertainment Tonight anytime soon. The singer says she doesn't subscribe to the "Star, entertainment" scene. Jones appreciates the fact that her debut album sold 9 million and all those Grammy's didn't hurt but she's glad the hoopla has died down. The singer says now it's time for the real fans to come out, "People who do care genuinely care because they like the music and that's awesome." Though her second album "Feels Like Home" sold less than half as much as the first it's still a big success. Interestingly she says all the recognition has been both exciting and embarrassing. She has just released her new DVD set "Norah Jones and the Handsome Band: Live in 2004" recorded in August in Nashville. Check our contest page for a chance to win a whole Jones prize package including the new DVD.
August 5, 2004 - Norah Jones second album 'Feels Like Home' is soon to turn into a double CD. Blue Note plans to re-release the album with lots of bonus features including three previously unreleased songs, the original "Moon Song," a cover of the Boudleaux/Bryant staple 'Sleepless Nights' and 'I Turned Your Picture to the Wall,' penned by Jones' guitarist Adam Levy's grandfather. The second disc will be a DVD with live versions of album cuts 'Creepin' In,' 'The Long Way Home' and 'In the Morning,' recorded in March in Madrid, as well as a cover of Gram Parsons' 'She.' An interview with Jones plus music videos for 'Sunrise' and 'What Am I to You?' round out the package. "It's a total label thing," Jones told the Calgary Sun, "It's good for people who are really big fans, they like having all the extra stuff. But it's kind of confusing to me. It's the record labels way of getting as much as they can, I guess. I'm not saying they're total leeches or anything." The new version of 'Feels Like Home' will be released on September 21.
