Natalie Cole Feeling Better After Fluid Filled Lungs Nov. 3, 2008 – Natalie Cole, who was diagnosed with hepatitis C earlier this year was checked in Lenox Hill Hospital in New York last month but for what exactly? She told the L.A. times that she was close to death with fluid-filled lungs and rapidly deteriorating kidneys, "I didn't realize how close I was to checking out."
Cole started treatment with Interferon in May which caused side effects that have been debilitating. “(It) was worse than the disease." It’s been a tough road for the 58-year-old singer. After returning to L.A. she experienced a clot in her catheter during dialysis, and it was back for another week of hospitalization at Cedar Sinai Hospital.
Cole is now healthier and promoting her new album ‘Still Unforgettable.” On her website she posted, “Don't believe anything those trashy magazines are saying, especially the ones that say I am dying -- I AM ALIVE AND WELL!"
She has made some public appearances signing albums and plans to continue her concert tour in the next few weeks. – by John Beaudin

A spokesman for the singer says, "She is back at home and she seems to be doing pretty well.” The 58 year old Smooth Jazz/Pop sensation was admitted to a New York medical centre last month after a setback in her battle with Hepatitis C. People in the Cole camp just said she was working a little too hard considering her condition.
Long time friend Quincy Jones says, “We are very concerned about her. She's not doing well right now. We had a doctor we met at a benefit the other night that says he has the new technology that could save her with Hepatitis C, so we're trying desperately to reach her to get in touch with her because she's in the hospital as we speak."
Spokesman for the singer says she will get back on the road, possible in mid-November. – by Kari Graham

They expect her to be there for a few days, then she’ll be on a month of bed rest.” O’Connor did make it clear that the treatment is not life-threatening.Cole who was admitted to hospital in New York on Sept. 12 had to postpone her tour that was to start Oct. 3 and cancel several public appearances for TV, Radio and several in-store promos. Her new album ‘Still Unforgettable’ was released last week. Natalie Cole has Hepatitis C July 23, 2008 – Our thoughts go out to Natalie Cole today. The singer has just been diagnosed with Hepatitis C. In a statement from her publicist the singer said, “I’ve been so fortunate to have learned so much from my past experiences,” said Cole. “I am embraced by the love and support of my family and friends; I am committed to my belief in myself and in my abiding faith to meet this challenge with a heartfelt optimism and determination. This is how I intend to deal with this current challenge in my life.”
Cole, 58, is set to record a follow up to 1991’s ‘Unforgettable’ called ‘Still Unforgettable’ in September.
Her doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles say Cole is responding well to treatment and she is recovering from the side effects from her medicine. Hepatitis C is a blood-borne infectious disease that is caused by the Hepatitis C virus (HCV), affecting the liver. – By John Beaudin
