REVIEW - Esperanza Spalding – Radio Music Society (4 out of 5 Stars) – Heads Up – Concord Music Group
April 4, 2012 – Esperanza Spalding is a groovy chick. I mean, really, when she’s in the room, everyone else disappears and I’m talkin’ more than that big “love-sculpture” hair. Having just released their most powerful album yet, New Horizon’s, it looks like the world is ready for this, a full dose of positive, social conscious fusion. We sat down with the band to chat about all the twisting, yet beneficial roads taken. More

REVIEW: Colbie Caillat – All of You - Universal Republic
– On her third album Colbie Caillat has decided to strategically give us an uptempo summer-vibe. It still sounds like her smash debut “Coco” but this time it’s Colbie with caffeine and it’s positive and fun. REVIEW - Michael Franks – Time Together – Shanachie Records

REVIEW - STEVE COLE - “Moonlight”

REVIEW - Sade – Soldier of Love
– There’s always been an understated value to everything that Sade does and sameness to her entire repertoire. That quality of old wine has served the singer/band well… until now. Dave Koz Presents His New Album “Hello Tomorrow” on Smooth Jazz Now
October 7, 2010 – Smooth Jazz Now is proud to present Dave Koz’ highly anticipated new album “Hello Tomorrow” premiering today at noon (eastern). Koz will visit the Smooth Jazz Now studios and join host and station Program Director John Beaudin as they play the album in its entirety.

“It’s always a special occasion when Dave releases a new album,” says Beaudin, “But this new project surpasses everything he’s ever done, he’s found a new pocket that still revisits his best sound of the past and a whole new bag of tricks. “Hello Tomorrow” actually sounds like a ‘Greatest Hits’ album, that’s how good it is.”

Beaudin and Koz will present a special edition of the popular FULL SPIN program that highlights new albums each week.

The “Hello Tomorrow” FULL SPIN program will air live today at Noon (Eastern) and repeated at the shows regular time of 7PM on Friday. It will also be repeated on Saturday and Sunday at 3PM and on the album’s release day of Tuesday October 12th at both Noon and 7PM.

Last year Koz sat in with Smooth Jazz Now Mid-day host Cameron Smith.

Koz will also be Beaudin’s guest this week on the Smooth Jazz Now TOP 30 Countdown. Expect to hear 6 songs from “Hello Tomorrow” during the show. – Shannon Edwards

Dave Koz Reaches No. 1 Spot After Only Six Weeks
Koz Also Set as Special Guest on the Smooth Jazz Now TOP 30 Countdown
October 7, 2010 – It only took sax sensation Dave Koz six weeks to reach the #1 spot on the Smooth Jazz Now TOP 30 Countdown. His “Put the Top Down” received the most response in the last seven days at the station, enough to unseat John Legend who had the top spot for two weeks with “Wake Up Everybody.”

“Obviously everyone is pretty damn happy that Koz is back with this album,” says countdown host and station Program Director John Beaudin, “ But you can’t get to #1 unless the song is great and this whole new album by Dave is fantastic.”

Koz will also serve as the special guest on the countdown this week meaning six tracks will be played from the new CD, which is set for release on Tuesday.

The saxophonist will also be Beaudin’s special guest on FULL SPIN airing at a special time today (Thursday) at 12 (noon Eastern). Koz will sit in with Beaudin and they will present the entire album. More

Dave Koz Starring in Upcoming “Desperate Housewives” Episode
October 5, 2010 - Smooth Jazz saxophonist Dave Koz recently visited Wisteria Lane, and you can see the result on Oct. 24 when he appears in a new episode of ABC’s hit series “Desperate Housewives.” The show began its seventh season on Sept. 26.

Koz’s TV gig just may help drive sales of his upcoming CD, “Hello Tomorrow,” his first for Concord Records. It will be released on Oct. 12 and features the current Smooth Jazz Now hit “Put the Top Down.”  “Now more than ever, getting music exposed on TV seems to be the most effective way of sharing a song – lots of people are calling it the new radio,” said Koz. He said his friendship with executive producer Marc Cherry helped him get “Start All Over Again” on the show, a song featuring vocalist Dana Glover that’s included on “Hello Tomorrow.”

Koz’s gig isn’t just as an extra. “All the pieces just came together for this to happen,” he said. “The right song, the right singer, the right message at the right time. Dana plays a housewife on this episode and Marc wrote it using the song as a thread running through it. We even get to play the song on the show together.  We were pretty nervous, way out of our normal comfort zone of music, but I gotta say it was a blast being on set with all those great folks.”

“Desperate Housewives” stars Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria. Actress and vocalist Vanessa Williams is new to the cast this season.

Koz is no stranger to television. His latest gig was as bandleader for “The Emeril Lagasse Show” on the Ion Network. Koz composed and recorded the theme song for the one-hour variety show, and “Emeril’s Theme” marked the second television theme song penned by Koz – his “Faces of the Heart” was used as ABC’s “General Hospital” theme. Koz also frequently sat in with the band on late-night TV host Arsenio Hall’s show. – By Brian Soergel

Dave Koz Enjoying Side By Side Tour with Brian Culbertson
September 3, 2009 - Sax star and accomplished composer Dave Koz and gifted keyboardist, trombonist and composer Brian Culbertson are touring this summer. It’s the Side By Side Tour, launched in July, where they collaborate each other with their bands and promote their latest releases : Dave Koz’ “Great Hits” and Brian Culbertson’s “Bringin Back The Funk”.

As David Koz recently declared to Detroit’s Smooth Jazz radio station, Smooth Jazz V98.7:
“This seems to be something that excited me creatively and also just for the times that we find ourselves in and that is just to hang out with someone, a good friend, and support each other, and be there for each other. So basically we're on stage together the whole time. We put our bands together, so it's two members of my band, two members of his band, we put our music together. There's a natural kind of kinship”.

Beside being a widely popular radio host, Dave Koz, a six-time Grammy Award nominee currently signed to Concord Records, is pledging that his upcoming CD will be a come back to the classic instrumental pop sound he is well known for. Koz will also be honored with a star in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard’s Walk of Fame later this year.

After his tenth successful album “Bringing Back the Funk”, Brian Culbertson’s next CD and DVD will be called “Live from the Inside”. Recorded in the historic Capitol Records A Studio in Hollywood (where legendary artists such as Frank Sinatra and the Beatles recorded), the project will come later this fall.

So finish your summer with plenty of smooth, funky fun and great music with the next “Side By Side Tour” dates (with special guest, famous soul vocalist Peabo Bryson) : For more information : www.brianculbertson.com and

Dave Koz Starts Christmas Tour This Week
Nov. 27, 2008 – Dave Koz is almost as dependable as Santa. His Smooth Jazz Christmas tour is a tradition for thousands of fans and this year guitarists Jonathan Butler and Jeff Golub and pianist Keiko Matsui are on board.
Koz says doing Christmas music this year could bring cheer to some troubled people in the US, “It will be very powerful, intimate and emotional this year, due to the state of the country,” he said. “People have been hit hard this year, but there is hopefulness for the future.

Known as one of the most popular Sax players in the biz and one of the most accessible to both radio and fans, Koz is always interested in people, “The holidays reach the core of what makes us human and gives us hope,” he said. “When people come into the Sunrise Theatre, they’ll find a warm, family kind of environment, with nice, fun and inspiring music to make everyone feel warm and happy.’

“Christmas music makes you want to grab onto your favorite slippers, your favorite robe, get into your comfy PJs and relax. Christmas music is musical comfort food.” – by John Rohn

Dave Koz and Company Sell Rendezvous Records
Aug. 18/08 – Though no official statement has been released the word is Dave Koz and his partners have sold Rendezvous Records to Mack Avenue Records. Koz founded the label 6 years ago with former radio programmers Frank Cody and record promo guy, Hyman Katz. So far no word as to how this will affect Rendezvous artists like Wayman Tisdale and Jonathan Butler. Here is what Koz said on the sale, “That’s one of the things that was very, very important to my partners and I, seeing as how we were very dedicated to our artists and our brand. Here was a place that would be a great new home for our artists. We felt very confident with that. And also that the Rendezvous brand, which does stand for something, will continue in the future as well. So those are two parameters that were met, making this feel good for all of us. I don’t think it’s a surprise to anyone to know that the music business over the last couple of years has changed so dramatically, making it virtually impossible for a young, completely independent company to thrive.” – by John Beaudin
