REVIEW - Bob Baldwin – Presents Betcha By Golly Wow – The Songs of Thom Bell – Peak Records (**2 out of 5 STARS)
May 1, 2012 - We live in a world where most instrumental music sounds like it was made for a 5x5 vertically moving room and that includes some Smooth Jazz. Interestingly, most Smooth Jazz musicians are technically some of the best players on the planet but many have fallen into this big vacuous hole, an amnesic state, where channelling Bert Kaempfert is common place. REVIEW - Esperanza Spalding – Radio Music Society (4 out of 5 Stars) – Heads Up – Concord Music Group
April 4, 2012 – Esperanza Spalding is a groovy chick. I mean, really, when she’s in the room, everyone else disappears and I’m talkin’ more than that big “love-sculpture” hair. She’s the type of musician you might walk up to at a party, ask about her music, and walk away three hours later regretting the question. This lady has a vision so you better have a seat. MORE

Lets Remember Whitney Houston, The Good and Bad
February 21, 2012 - Shock, disappointment and horror are some of the many words fans used to describe Whitney Houston’s untimely death last week (February 11, 2012). My family and I were outside a Starbucks when one of our radio listeners texted me with, at first, the rumor. MORE

New Interviews

Airborne Interview with Smooth Jazz Now
– Not many groups have stood the test of time like Airborne. Coming in around the time that the NAC format was really starting to cook, 1988, this outfit grew with every project, gig and album. Having just released their most powerful album yet, New Horizon’s, it looks like the world is ready for this, a full dose of positive, social conscious fusion. We sat down with the band to chat about all the twisting, yet beneficial roads taken. More

Interview: Zach Bandolin Back Home After Lots of World Travelling

Kennard Ramsey – Somos – 5 out of 5
October 20, 2011 – This is no ordinary album. In fact, there is nothing normal about this album and that’s what makes this one of the most perfect projects that’s ever come across my desk. MORE

REVIEW: Colbie Caillat – All of You - Universal Republic
– On her third album Colbie Caillat has decided to strategically give us an uptempo summer-vibe. It still sounds like her smash debut “Coco” but this time it’s Colbie with caffeine and it’s positive and fun. Caillat co-wrote every tune on the album with different famous, mostly behind-the-scenes songsmiths.. MORE

REVIEW - Michael Franks – Time Together – Shanachie Records
– There are not too many things in life as deliciously lazy as Michael Franks voice. The guy could chill out someone on deaths door. Seriously, angst has no place on a Michael Franks record – he’s good at one great thing..making you feel good! MORE

REVIEW - STEVE COLE - “Moonlight”
- Programming Smooth Jazz Radio has allowed me to discover talent over the decades and follow the twists and turns in their career. Such is the case of saxophonist Steve Cole an artist whom has played on numerous number #1 Smooth Jazz hits and been a regular spin on most smooth jazz radio stations play lists. MORE

REVIEW - Sade – Soldier of Love
– There’s always been an understated value to everything that Sade does and sameness to her entire repertoire. That quality of old wine has served the singer/band well… until now. Unlike Norah Jones who has, at least, tried to mix-up-the-pot, Sade really needs to stop wearing the same dress to every party. More

REVIEW - Mindi Abair – In Hi-Fi Stereo

– Well, one things for sure, Mindi Abair is not shopping on Main Street anymore. As they say, “run away from the past and eventually it will run into you.” More

Christina Aguilera: “I'm Just a Very Sexual Person By Nature”
June 17, 2010 - How one looks at sexuality can change with the arrival of a child. Though many things went topsy turvy for Christina Aguilera after having her son Max, the singer maintains that she’s still the same sexual being she was before being a mother.

She told The Observer: "For a while your body is definitely not your body and you very willingly give it up for your child, but now I feel more confident and comfortable with what my body can do.”

Aguilera is set to appear opposite Cher in the new movie ‘Burlesque’ and says the whole experience helped her plug into her naughty side, "I'm just a very sexual person by nature, that's partly why I agreed to do the movie that I did. I just think the art of the tease is a beautiful art form."

On motherhood the singer says,  "I think all of us as women have this super-human quality. We create life, we give life, we are the sources of life for our children - we're all pretty bionic." – by John Beaudin

Christina Aguilera Defends her right to Party
June 11, 2008 – Are mothers not allowed to have fun? That’s the way Christina Aguilera feels these days. The singer says she feels like she’s in jail sometimes when it comes to going out and having fun. She gave birth to son, Max Liron in January and says, "I spend all day with my son and once in a while if I want to go out and have a mommy-daddy night with my husband, I am more than allowed to do that.” She adds, "They never air footage of the paparazzi actually pulling up beside my husband and being like: 'When is she going to leave the house? I have been trying to get a picture of her for weeks.”

Of course we have been corrupted by the likes of Britney Spears and Anna Nicole Smith where as parents we’ve all found ourselves yelling at them on screen.

"Everybody has an opinion and everybody sometimes wants to cause drama and be mean spirited, but it's something that comes with what you do and I learned that very early on." says Aguilera. – by John Beaudin

Hi! I’m Christina Aguilera Have You Met My Boobs
June 5, 2008 – Christina Aguilera is enjoying life or herself via her post-pregnancy breasts. Are they even real? The 27 year old singer says she’s gone up to an E-cup since her son Max was popped out in January, ‘It’s kind of hilarious! I've never fit into an E-cup before. I look at my husband and go, 'Guess what size this bra is?' And when I tell him, he's just amazed. We have kept the tags that prove it, to look back for memory's sake!' The singer went up 40 pounds during pregnancy but credits breastfeeding for the weight lose, she said: 'I think they say that when you're breastfeeding, you know, your weight kind of slims down. It's a little easier. It's like a workout within itself. It’s very tiring actually and you find yourself snacking more often.' God bless her and her sweet dedication. – by John Beaudin
Christina Aguilera Gives Birth to Baby Boy
January 15, 2008 - Congratulations to Christina Aguilera. It's a boy! The singer gave birth to Max Liron Bratman (what, was Zontar taken?) at 10:05 p.m. on Saturday, weighing less than 3 kg and measuring some 50 cm. It doesn't seem that long ago that Paris Hilton made Christina's pregnancy her business by unexpectantly announcing Aguilera's situation at a party in Vegas. It the first child for the multi-octave singer and her husband music executive, Jordan Bratman. There was no immediate comment from Aguilera's representatives. In other baby news Nicole Richie gave birth to a baby girl over the weekend but no one cared. The poor kid has been prohibited from ever being famous due to her mother's overextension at the fame-bank. Tick, tick, tick. - by John Beaudin

Christina Aguilera's Busy Schedule
February 13, 2004 - Christina Aquilera has three major projects on her to-do list. Without giving any specifics the singer says she's working on another Spanish speaking album, an English album and a possible movie role. Aguilera says she's at a point in her career where she wants to bring out the different aspects of her personality. Something she tried to do on her latest album "Stripped" but unfortunately the media concentrated on just the negative stuff according to the singer. The bright light on the album for her was "Beautiful" which Aguilera is very proud of and is thankful it got the attention it deserved. Interestingly, Aguilera recently told reporters about her fascination with lesbian sex and how she was "turned on" by womens bodies. She also said her only vice was drinking, adding she loves getting drunk. So much for changing her image
Christina Aguilera Helps Shelter
December 24, 2003 - Christina Aguilera has often spoken about her troubled past and the singer says she understands what it feels like to need help. Aguilera is putting her money behind her statements having donated 200 hundred thousand to a woman's shelter. The singer visited the Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh signed autographs and even wrapped presents for the children at the shelter. Aguilera told the press that she always knew that if ever there was a time in her life where she could help she would. Aguilera has said her father abused her and her mother. The shelter gets about 194 referrals a month from Aguilera's Web site at www.christinaaguilera.com.
