Has it Been 100 Vegas Shows Already for Bette Midler? June 9, 2009 – It’s appropriate that Bette Midler called her Vegas run, "The Showgirl Must Go On.” The touring work-horse has just completed her 100th show at Caesars Palace in Vegas. She says she loves the fact that everything is happening in one location for a change, "I'm on tour in the same place every night, I love it," she said.
"I have to be in a concentrated place. Otherwise, I forget what I'm doing there," Midler said of the huge production which started in February 2008.
Midler says she has to “shake her booty” hard night after night, "I try to keep my weight down so I don't have to redo my costumes every time I come back, which is really the hardest part,"
Milder has heard all the cliché’s about gay men loving her music and live shows. So what is her take on Prop 8? "I watch from time to time. To tell you the truth, I'm not on the front lines, I'm in the zone." She adds "But I'm all in favor of gay marriage. I think it's fabulous." – by John Beaudin
Bette Midler Says She Hasn't Had Plastic Surgery. We Believe Her Right? February 25, 2008 - I remember when Victoria Recano of "The Insider" asked Susan Lucci if she'd ever had plastic surgery. Oh, that was a moment in journalistic expertise! Lucci in her ever-present perky persona said, " No," to which Recano was left with this idiot blank stare.
I don't know who looked like a bigger fool, Lucci for outright lying or Recano for her spineless journalism. Which brings us to Bette Milder who recently told Extra TV, "When it really starts to cave in (her body), I probably will start to give it a real good think," when asked if she would consider having plastic surgery. So how can she have tighter skin than a balloon top? Midler says she stays away from drinking, smoking and keeping "strange hours." Yeah, that works for all of us too. Yeah right! Midler debuted her Vegas show "The Showgirl Must Go On," last week. - by John Beaudin
Bette Midler "Mortified" To Compete with Rosemary Clooney January 20, 2004 - Bette Midler says she's very happy to be nominated for a Grammy Award this year but she wishes the circumstances were different. Her album "Bette Midler Sings the Rosemary Clooney Songbook" is nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Unfortunately, Midler is competing against Clooney in the same category. Midler told the Boston Globe, "I'm mortified. I'd really like Rosemary to win that Grammy. I can't believe I'm up against her," Midler is even considering withdrawing her nomination. Bette Midler is on tour until the end of February. Rosemary Clooney died June 29, 2002 at the age of 74 from complications related to lung cancer.
