Meet Contributing Editor - Paul Ericson
Paul Ericson is a 20 year Music Industry veteran with a DEEP PASSION for the art of music. A graduate of Aledo Illinois High School and the Quincy Illinois Technical Schools who found out he did not enjoy sitting behind a desk pushing a pencil on a drafting board. I then worked my way into a retail record store and became an Assistant Manager which evolved into working for North America's largest Distributor of Pre-Recorded Music…The Handleman Company, at first as a regional representative and then as the Kansas City Missouri District Supervisor. After 3 years of living in a suitcase 7 days a week I was ready for the next challenge which involved putting the tri-states first AOR station on the air, WZLZ as their Music Director and brought the area's first Jazz programming on Sundays there. This was my intro into radio and evolved to the 100,000 watt super signal KGRC and putting on the area's first Smooth Jazz programming. When the owners of KGRC decided to expand I assisted the Corporate Engineer in bringing a major market sound to the area loading all music into computer for multi-formats….Country, Rock, Top 40 and Adult Contemporary. Became Program Director of KZZK an Active Rock Station. Successfully promoted and hosted 2 major rock shows in two different venues in West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri…which is a MAJOR accomplishment. Radio interviews with plethora of Rock and Jazz artists. Successfully wrote, produced and engineered the area's only Smooth Jazz programming on 100,000 watts for 12 years which brought a steady source of major revenue. Introduced Guitars and Saxes on stage in St Louis Missouri. Experienced with Audiovault, AVAir, MusicMaster and Cool Edit Digital Mastering. Currently looking for his next programming opportunity that will utilize my vast knowledge of the product.
