Meet
Joy Hall
Joy
Hall is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. At the
age of fifteen months, Joy was diagnosed with
mild Cerebral Palsy and was referred to the Kennedy
Institute (now the Kennedy Krieger Institute)
in Baltimore for Physical and Occupational Therapy.
She was able to take her first steps at age three. In
1987 and 1988 Joy Hall served as the child representative
for the Maryland Easter Seals Society. In 1989,
Joy was chosen to be the child representative
for the National Easter Seals Society. During
her travels to promote Easter Seals and speak
to how the organization had helped her and so
many others, Joy made a cameo appearance on
the TV sitcom "Amen" and met then
President George H. W. Bush. |
In
May of 2000, Joy received her Bachelor's Degree
from Villa Julie College inStevenson,
MD. She is currently the Visitor Services Coordinator
for the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African
American History and Culture. This involves making
sure that all visitors have a tremendous experience
including large tour groups. Joy's love ofSmooth
Jazz and its artists comes from stumbling across
a Kirk Whalum concert (he is her favorite artist)
and becoming hooked. For Joy, contributing to
Smooth Jazz Now is a dream come true for her.
Besides going to a good Smooth Jazz Concert, in
her spare time, Joy enjoys reading and lending
her time to wonderful organizations such theKennedy
Krieger Institute which was instrumental in Joy
learning to become an independent young woman.
